  • Projectors recommended

Afternoon all, this is my first post so thanks in advance for any replies.

I am starting my first Simulator build, I have attached the floor plan and a coupe of pics for the garage that I am installing it in. You will see that the height is only 2500mm at the moment, I am looking to raise that but for now sticking with the 2500mm which actually allows me to swing my driver fine (short arse I hear you say!).

I'm going to go with Sky Trak plus Sky Pro so I can get more club data. Cost is the main reason for going for the Sky Trak option.

Anyway the first question I have is on the projector, could anyone give me an idea of the best ones to get taking into account value for money. It will have to project 4:3 and project from the side as it will be installed on the right on the ceiling.

I am looking to spend between £400-700 maximum.

    Cheers

Hi - I can't give advise with projector as I made a wrong purschase myself. Went with a short throw, but it's sub consiously bothering me.
I wanted to comment on 'raising'. I did the same a while ago. I was a though job, but it paid off .
    Good luck

Hey everyone - I wanted to share the build-out of my Skytrak golf simulator at home. I’m living in Belgium (Europe) and during a work hectic, wet and cold

I have an Optoma GT1080Darbee which I guess is a pretty popular projector along with a few BenQ models. I haven't set up my sim yet with it, but I've used it to watch a bit of Netflix. Quality is amazing and I'm excited to set everything up.

Since you mentioned you are looking to project from the side, you will need to make sure the projector you use has horizontal keystone adjustment as well as vertical. The GT1080Darbee does NOT have horizontal keystone (only vertical) so the projector can be mounted on the ceiling or on the ground, but it will have to be placed in the middle of the projected image. I didn't actually realize this when I bought it, but I can make it work with my space.

      Good luck!

Thanks caldiver I've just finished installing the old 'Acer' projector. See pictures. While it's a older model I am going to give it a go until it full wears out or when I can make a deal on an Optoma like your mentioned but then a model with (a good amount) of horizontal lens shift.
