Can anyone help where to position a room in my garage?

Hi everyone, I’m just planning on building a room in my garage for a simulator, it’s a non insulated detached garage so very cold so will have to be a fully enclosed room.

the garage has 4 beams each of which is only 8ft high and each is 8ft apart so I’m sure I’ll have to raise one of these by a couple of ft. The garage is also only 8ft high around the edges (up to around 14-16ft in the centre)

the layout of the garage is attached and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions where I might position the room while still retaining some functionality as a garage??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you get rid of or raise the middle beam? I would do that then have your screen about 15' wide between the two remaining beams. Hit from the bottom to the top of the page. You could put a rail on the bottom of each beam and then hang heavy curtains that you could slide in and out when needed to create your enclosed area. You could put in something more permanent above the beams to create the enclosed space up to the ceiling. You would then just be left to figure out how to heat and cool the space, which could be done with a minisplit mounted above the window on the bottom of the page. Or you could also put in a window AC unit on the bottom of the page which then leaves you to how to heat the area. This would give you an enclosed area of 16 x 20.

Many thanks for that, greatly appreciated and i like the idea of the curtains - i could maybe use a thermal material to try create a relatively enclosed area which i can hopefully keep warm(ish).

I think first and foremost i need to find out if and how to raise one of the trusses as you are quite right, i need the 15/16' wide area anyway regardless of what area of the garage i'm using.

      Thanks for your input.
