  • Small Impact Screen vs. Net Return/TV Combo

    Hello,

I'm seeking opinions on the following issues:

All other factors being equal, would you opt for an 8 x 8 screen w/ about 6 - 12" of offset or 7.5 x 9 screen w/ no offset?

Or would you stick with a net return/tv combo due to the small size of these screen options?

    Thanks in advance!

Is the 7.5 x 9 screen 7.5 feet wide or tall? I'm guessing wide if you are getting rid of the offset. I think it would look funny having a screen that is taller than it is wide.

Sorry it was unclear. It would be 7.5 tall by 9 wide. Going wider by a foot (toward the right for a right hander) is what gets rid of the offset.

In that case I would go for 7.5 x 9. That should have less blank space when you project your image since it is closer to a 4x3 ratio. You can add some black trim at the top if you are concerned with hitting the ball too high.

I have a 8 tall x 10 wide with an offset works perfectly as long as you don't crank lob wedges. Btw I may be confused, but how can you be hitting in a space 9 feet wide with no offset...unless the room is larger than the screen you intend on building.

Thanks to both of you for the opinions. Yes, the room (garage) is much bigger than the dimensions of the screen, but I'm limited on screen size by things like garage door rails, etc.
