How to handle padding behind my screen

I’ve been all over this forum learning everything I can from everyone and appreciate the knowledge. I have a question I really couldn’t find an answer to though.

I’m getting ready to install a 11’ x 8.5’ Preffered Carl’s screen. I’ll buy their bungees to mount the top and both sides. I plan to let the bottom hang just about touching the floor. I like the idea of some sort of padding behind to extend its life. I have some moving blankets I don’t need that will be perfect.

Question is, how closely do I mount the blankets? Do I have them touching the back of the screen? A couple inches back? Benefits to either? I’ll have about 12” behind the screen to a concrete basement wall.

Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks in advance for he knowledge.

I have a large heavy blanket (designed for sound proofing music studios) hanging directly behind and touching my impact screen. Works great with minimal bounce back

Awesome, that’s exactly what I was looking for. I assumed having it touching the back of the screen would be best to reduce the impact on the screen. Thanks!
