  • Limited space install

    Hello all:
Here is my Sky trak set up.Its not the ultimate ,but it does help get thru those NJ winters! I have a large home but limited areas with a 10 foot or more ceilings that the wife was not going to be in favor of..Like the living room?,entrance way and bedroom? It seems fine to me but the women have a different perceptive than us when it comes to golf.So my best choice would have been the basement but ceilings maxed out at just under 9 feet . So it was to the attic and new construction. What was tough about my setup is the roof slopes. As a rightly, I have no clearance issues. But lefties are out! My question to my fellow simu buddies is, " Do you have and ideas for protecting my ceilings?" I have 4 ball marks from either the wedges or trying to hit the top of the ball when I drive. My only thought is to but some king of padding when the roof line come just before the net catches.Other than that, looking for your thoughts...Thanks in advance...

I like your setup and I am trying to do something similar, but at this point I am planning to leave the space unfinished, and will likely do as you have done and use a net and an LCD panel instead of an impact screen. I actually think a reasonably large LCD 50-55" may be more "immersive" than a 4:3 projected image. I use the sim at my club and it sometimes isn't sharp enough to read the data, and my eyes aren't great. A sharp 55" to the right of my hitting area seems like it would be easier to read. On top of that, the new Samsungs will have Airplay from the iPads, as well as an Xfinity app so I can watch golf while I'm hitting, which I might use some of the time.

As for the ceiling, I am going to use the net in the picture below (it will be a "backup" net to the main hitting net, mostly to protect the windows I'll be hitting at. I will attach it to the rafters to extend away from and in front of the windows. That may be harder to do in your finished space, but since you did the work and know where the rafters are, maybe you could do it with eye bolts, carabinas, steel cable bungees? Alternatively you could attach carpet or some foam exercise tiles? (or sparkle annually!)

Are you happy with the SkyTrak? What sim s/w did you add?

    Jon

Been researching same concern also looking into comcerns from errand shots to walls best ideas I have seen are either golf or archery netting, .Also have seen foam or fabric tile padding like in high end builds. Sites seen best so far are, http://www.justfornets.com/jfn-18-1-...t-custom-size/ , https://fabricmate.com/fabric-wall-finishing-system/.

HEY Lefty! I bought the stuff at home Depot.Very easy to install, just tacked it down.If your planning on putting, I would maybe put a super low pile carpet down .I bought the country club driving matt and it SUCK to put off but its a great matt I bought directly from Costco..Cant wait to play real golf but this is way better for my practice...
    Working...
