  • Sim room build: What would you do differently if you had the chance

Hey guys, I am planning on building a "man" shed for my simulator. I think it is going to be 20x30x12. I also want to have room for a pool table and couches and chairs etc, etc, etc down the road. Just want to make sure I have enough room for growth in the future. Any of you guys build a specific building for you setup? What would have you done different if you could do it again?

I'm doing the same thing...in the planning stages right now. Happy to share notes, drawings, renderings, ideas, etc. The hardest part for me has been to pick a simulator. I'm a lefty, so a movable launch monitor is a no-go (seems like a GCQuad would be a fairly easy choice otherwise)...

Just put your Sim on a turntable with 180 degree stops. Have two hitting sides. Will be wider but it will be convenient. My wife is a lefty so I would have to switch alot .

After messing around with an outdoor net on my patio and then building an 20x12 tarp enclosure that almost ended my marriage, i decided to build a dedicated 24x18x12 building for my little hobby. My deal was she would have a 7x15 area to hang out in while i play. After 3 months i am super happy with the result. I learned everything from lurking on this forum and taking as many ideas as i could. I don't have any regrets with building itself, the height is more than sufficient, and i am 6'6", and width is adequate. My only two regrets in my sim build are.

        1. Buying a carls impact screen enclosure instead of just mounting the impact screen to angle iron on the ceiling and walls. I was under the impression that i would need side and top protection around the screen. But at 11' high and 15' wide it is unnecessary. I also wish i opted for the premium screen instead of the preferred.

        2. I build a 3.5" subfloor in the sim area, covered the 15x16 area with putting turf, and inserted a cce hitting strip. This seemed like a good idea, the cce strip killed my back, and the putting turf in the stance area began to wear. i have since put in a 5x7 fiberbuilt mat, and i love that, but it sits above the putting turf. I may end up raising the putting area around it, but for now it is ok.

Good Luck Click image for larger version

Would have researched on here / asked advice on graphics card and custom built comp. Im not a computer guy and was overwhelmed by the idea of trying to custom build a comp. I bought a gaming laptop for convenience and feel like I wasted 700 bucks.. game runs smooth but not crisp visually. I have a NVidia 1050 card. Next year ill upgrade with the help of the forum members to a stand alone comp
BTW if anyone could suggest the best settings in the NVidia control panel settings for the golf club that would be awesome. Most you tube videos seem to contradict each other
