I'm looking to build a new shed to be my simulator room. Unfortunately, I am limited to a shed that can only be 120 square feet and 10 feet high. Anything bigger than this would require permits and I'm not interested in going down that route. Will a 10Wx12Dx10H shed be enough room? This would be a Skytrak setup and I would be hitting off center. I get that this is not ideal but from doing research it sounds like people have been able to accomplish a decent setup with less. Before pulling the trigger and buying building materials I want to make sure that this is workable.

That sounds really tight but if that's your best option you can probably make it work...I'm sure others have made it work in similar or slightly smaller spaces..typically screen is placed 1ft from the back wall, then you want to be hitting at least 7 feet from screen (might be able to get by with 6ft, but not less), and then you need 4 feet behind you for the club to swing.. I don't own a Skytrak so I don't know if skytrak has any specific requirements for distance from the screen (given how it works I wouldn't think so). Keep in mind the space inside the shed will be at least 6 inches smaller length as width wise and the shed dimensions are probably measured on the outside and you need to account for the width of the 2x4's (3 inches on each side).Last edited by WISCOGOLFNUT; 03-04-2019, 11:06 PM.

The plans for the shed would be so that the interior dimensions are closer to 10Wx12D. If anything, I may try to sneak in some additional space but nothing overt.

I went from my first sim build about 12 ft wide. I had to offset my centerline drastically. My new sim is 15 ft wide and makes a world of difference. I would recommend before spending all that money, would suggest seeing the cost to get permit and going at least 15 ft wide. This will be something you will have for a long time. Don’t want you to regret the decision in the long run. Honestly, do you need a permit? At my old house a built a big deck and didn’t get a permit..haha. But I built the deck so had that option. If you have a contractor doing it maybe they require the permit. Just see if the cost of permit is worth build something that you will be happier with. The other positive with going 15ft wide is you can have a 16:9 aspect ratio screen. The wide screen makes the sim golf experience much more realistic vs the box 4:3 screen. Good luck with your decision.

I think the issue here is not the W or the H you should be able to make those work. However, 12D is probably not going to do it. I would think at a minimum to swing freely you would need at least 13D.
Back wall to Screen = 1 foot (minimum)
Screen to front foot = 6 foot (provided you have full extension at P8)
Rear Foot to back wall = 6 foot (This counting your not swaying back any at P2)
So unless you have a short P2 and P8 position I doubt driver or 3 wood would work. But as wbond suggested get into a similar space and try your swing out. Hope it works out for you!

You really need a minimum of 6'6" from the teeing position to the side wall. If you want to avoid an offset (strongly recommend), that means you need at least a 13' wide room. Mine is 13'6" and it works just fine. I'm 6'3" as a reference. For depth, start with assuming 8' from the tee to the screen. I would recommend 15' from screen to back wall.
