  • My potential sim room size concerns

    I know there are a lot of threads on this but wanted some advice specific to my room. Right now I have a garage setup but I want to bring it indoors for a permanent simulator space. However, my room dimensions are:

    13’1” long
    11’11” wide
    8’11” tall (could raise to 10’ as there is a drop ceiling in the finished basement)

    I have a GCQuad but the 13’1” length is what is worrying me. Any thoughts, comments, advice?

    I am thinking I will be about 8-9 feet away but could go closer as its a gc quad.

      Circling back on this build. I think I am going to move forward with it despite the room being tight. I am getting quotes to raise the ceiling and the end room dimensions will be:

      13’1” long
      11’11” wide
      9’11” tall

      There is a regular doorway that I am going to widen by 4 feet and remove the door which will hopefully open up the room a bit. The impact screen will hang about 1 foot from the wall and so my true dimensions of the room will be 12'1" long by 11'11" wide. In determining placement of my hitting area (I am going with a custom fiberbuilt), where would you place the hitting part of the mat? I am thinking it should be offset a little. Maybe the best spot is 7 feet from the screen (leaving 5 feet behind) and offset around 3 feet towards the right wall (I am righty). Something like this (X for hitting strip):

        I would suggest to mark 5' from the wall behind you and take some slow practice swings, this will show you what clubs you will be able to swing. I think you may be better served just to have the hitting spot centered from front to back. You will be offset so what are your plans for a projector? A floor mounted option might be better here.
