Does anyone have any good recommendations for a 16:10 projector? The ones I'm drawn to are Panasonic VZ580U and BenQ SU922 because they are native 16:10, 1920x1200 resolution, and high lumens; but using the projectorcentral calculator they both require placement at 17.5' from the screen to fill a 13.1'x8.25' (158"x99") screen. I want to hit 10' away but I'm worried about shadows because when I do a rough trigonometry calculation, the low part of beam will be at 4.5' when it is 10' from the screen. And turns out I'm taller than 4.5'. How are the 16:10ers making their setups work? Thank you, friends!

I bought a Sony VPL-FH60 PROJECTOR and added a short throw lens Z3009. Under $1400 total.
I have lens approx 12’10” from my 180” wide screen throwing a 16:10 image.
No shadows at all hitting from 10’. Could actually hit closet if wanted. My ceiling is 10’ tall.

Thanks mthunt, I’d love a ST and started my search with them, but for me it’s hard to find one that will fill a 16:10 at 13’ wide, have enough brightness, plus 1920x1200. Maybe my wish list is too strict. I’ve tried BenQ 2150ST, TH671ST, Optoma EH415ST, EH460ST for instance, and with each one projector central recommends either higher brightness or they just don’t fill the screen.
The BenQ MX825ST and MW632ST, and Optoma EH200ST all fill the screen but only give 12-15 fL and I don’t have any experience to know if that’s enough. Anyone know? Plus the MX825 and EH200 aren’t 16:10 native, and I’ve read that image quality is lost if I have to force the image into a non-native format.
For comparison, the Panasonic VZ580U and BenQ SU922 (not STs) each give around 23fL (good enough?) but they have to be 14-17’ back.
So many variables. I might have to prioritize my wishes, but still hoping there’s someone with a similar setup or the know how to help me crack this nut!Last edited by chili; 04-09-2019, 09:28 PM.

I hot the BenQ1085st. It’s similar to the 2085. It’s been running for 4 years. Love it.My Courses:

I have a Hitachi CP-A220N ultra short throw that I got off Ebay for $200.00 back in 2016, it is mounted 4' 6" from the screen and 12' off the floor, I was lucky enough to be able to put an alcove in the ceiling back when I was building my sims room. A lot depends on your video card and you do have to play with the settings to get the full screen which I have at 13' x 9' on mine but it will put up a larger projection and does 16:10. Now I have a little blurriness you can see in the pictures that I believe is from dust on the lens, I used a camera lens cleaning kit on it which helped but still needs a little more work, but the picture was super sharp when I first got it. Not sure if this will help but thought it couldn't hurt. Also picture can be adjusted up and down for mounting how ever high you need.4 Photos
