The original plan was to build a separate shed in the backyard dedicated to my golf simulator. Before moving forward with this project I wanted to explore the idea of alternative areas in my home. The main issue I run into is ceiling height. I have 8 foot ceilings throughout the house. One possible exception is the garage. Since the roof ridge beam is a little over 10 feet I feel it is possible to do a full swing with a driver. There is a nice little gap area to swing a club in without worrying about height.
One other thing to point out is that the garage motor track would be removed. In this build I would install a wall mounted garage door opener (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Chamberl...JO20/305754509). This opener attaches directly to the torsion bar so there is no need for a motor track. By doing this I open up a lot more space to operate.
I'm right handed and would be facing the large 8 foot beam that covers the width of the garage. In this scenario both the back swing and follow through would enter the higher height zone of the garage. What are your thoughts?
