So my current setup is in the basement but looking to maybe moving it to garage. I'm in the Chicago area and I use the sim mostly in the winter months so I would need to heat the garage somehow. Its a 3 car garage so not sure if what way to go. A fixed heater installed or a few standalones? I prefer the comforts of the basement but it is a large setup (carl's 10.5 x 8) and the ceilings are only 9.2 ish I'm able to hit all my clubs but have has some friends hit the ceiling with driver on follow through. Any insights on how to go about would be much appreciated.

Either a mini split which would probably be the best option but a little more pricey or a 220 heater. You can also set up a heavy duty sliding curtain to reduce the footprint of the area to be heated. I've seen someone here in Michigan do that. My setup is in a two car garage and the 220 heater works fine for use in the winter. On extremely cold days, i also use a parabolic heat dish from costco or on slightly warmer days i will only use this without the 220 heater.

Can be more difficult, but cheaper and more heat capacity. A lot of peoples A/C's are going out, so they are replacing furnaces at the same time. I added a smaller condo house furnace on craiglist for cheap. I have 2 garages next to each other so I put the furnaces in the other garage and duct it in.
I wanted the advantage of being able to use a wifi thermostat to control it and turn it up. A lot of cheaper units you can't do that with.

I also live in the Chicago area and use a mini split in my garage sim. The mini split has both AC and heat because I use my sim both in the winter and the summer. It supports WiFi thermostat control. I really like the ability to program and control the mini split from my phone.

I'm in Michigan, and am thinking about a mini split. Which model do you have, and about how much was it installed?Originally posted by tron View PostI also live in the Chicago area and use a mini split in my garage sim. Pioneer WYS012-17 Air Conditioner Inverter+ Ductless Wall Mount Mini Split System Air Conditioner & Heat Pump Full Set, 12000 BTU 115V. It was under $700 to buy. It was installed as a part of a renovation that I was doing on my house, so I don’t remember what it costed to install just the mini split.
