  • 1st time Sim Builder

ive enjoyed reading this forum the past year or so as we are building a new house including (finally) a simulator room. I’ve decided on Uneekor and got a short throw projector and think I’ll be going with a Fiberbuilt 10x10 May and finishing the sides with foam/rubber/turf to match, as described on a post recently. One of my sons is a lefty so that pretty well forced my hand on system and center strike mat. The room is 16.5W x 20’D x 9’7”H prior to Sheetrock. I’m going to attempt to build the 16x10x4 screen enclosure as per the great instructions posted recently by a forum member. My main question, if I can still get a screen from the Mill, is what size width should I get? I’ve heard people go extra wide and wrap it around and thus are able to shift it over time to change the main impact area. Should I get 20’? Will post pictures as we get going shortly on the room, thanks!

Update -sheetrock beginning this week -put some extra ceiling blocking in where the short throw projector will go and the Uneekor sensor will go (since this pic was taken). I have to have righty and left capability -had kind of settled on the Fiberbuilt 10x12 center hitting mat (with the putting holes) -but have been reading and some people don't like how "fluffy" it is. Wondering if I should be looking harder at True-Strike? Any other options besides CCE? Thanks!

If you plan to use it a lot, i would stick with the fiberbuilt. Other options would be magstrike if you are able to find one, divot action or the truestrike.

Looks great so far. I built mine after new construction as well. Ended up going with a CCE mat which has held up great so far (it’s been about a year at 3-4x a week).

Sheet rock getting done this week throughout the house, including my favorite room... Also, the ceiling was 9'9" to start not 9'7" (was relieved when I re-measured since will be adding at least an inch or two for hitting mat... Will be covering up the egress window, put one in just in case I keel over tomorrow and they can remake this into a bedroom...

Figured I should update this -been playing simulator golf now for a couple of months, loving it -well, the kids use it way more than I do for now, thank you Covid.. My college son's girlfriend had nothing better to do so we commissioned a nice mural on the wall of TPC Sawgrass. The kids have made a few dents in the ceiling, so we just installed some foam sheets tonight to hopefully put an end to that. Recommend hot glue with cardboard strips and command strips to hang to the ceiling. Went with the Fiberbuilt which is awesome, and Uneekor basic version, along with TGC2019. The screen from the Mill has been great, though with the extra 3 feet I'm not completely happy with how we have it attached on the left side, we may end up cutting it vertically on the bottom to get it to hang without wrinkles, but it really doesn't affect anything. Thanks for everyone's help on this!

Looks great and i love the mural. I am starting a garage build soon and looking at the similar fiberbuilt 10x10 mat with the centerline. I am left-handed and will have many right-handed friends to play as well. How much width total do you think is needed for both to swing comfortably from that centerline? I know you said you have 16'5'' but trying to figure out the best configuration for my 19' wide if I don't need to totally center it.

I'd say 15 feet maybe to be really comfortable? It might get claustrophobic otherwise IMO
