Pole Barn Build - Mice Advice

I've been measuring, debating and measuring again and have come to the conclusion to build a room in my barn vs building out a sim in my single car garage. Big concern as I start to frame out soon is mice. I have them, they are nasty and I don't want them inside my simulator room. Has anybody successfully sealed up a room in a barn or storage building that they eliminated mice? My biggest concern are the outside walls where I have currogated steel. I plan on framing out all the walls and finishing the room with drywall to make it look nice inside and to give me a good insulation for cold days in the winter (Denver).

I think I have a plan to keep mice out.

Next question: how long should I make my room? I’m going 14’ wide with 10’ ceilings and plan on going with an Uneekor sim. I would like to have a bar in the back and a couch in front of the bar area for making the sim room a possible movie theater at times. I am leaning towards 30’ long x 14’ wide. Will that be long enough?

Keeping mice out of the barn must be hard but I do know about length. Screen to ball should be 10 feet. Min clearance ball to extended driver is 7 feet. Anything about that is gravy. You need a foot behind the screen as well so that math is 18 feet. Add seats and a bar behind it and you're solid. One note, if the ball will be in the middle of the room width, 14 is the minimum. 15 is better if in the middle and 16 is ideal. If the ball is offset 14 is huge.

Isn’t this what Ar-15 are for? What about just talking to a local pest control technician I’m sure they could give you better advice for what work in your area. I’d think lots of bait stations and some traps.

The glue traps at entry points work pretty well. i also place decon traps in cabinets and other places where mice hide but my dog can't find them.

Maybe some spray foam and silicone along the boards to seal up the gaps prior to framing should keep the critters out. Still possible they may chew through but could reduce the numbers.

If you know of anybody who has a Ferret, or a local pet store, and if you can find one that hasn't been descented you can sprinkle its old bedding (wood chips) around the outside and keep mice out, and most anything else. Had mice and rats getting into the feed in the barn when I was a young man and we sprinkled some Ferret bedding in there and it stopped that problem in a heart beat. Not sure if the descented ones would work but if that is all you can find it may be worth a try.
