What to look for in a house

I’m looking at purchasing a house sometime soon. Any tips on what to look for to make sure I can put in a simulator?

A garage with high ceilings seems like the best bet. Are there other less obvious ways that I could make a simulator room?

I am in the same situation. IMO, a basement with high ceilings is a must and living in SC has made that a real strain since there are not tons of homes around here with basements. Ceilings need to be at least 9 feet but preferably 10 feet. 10 feet width and 10-15 feet depth is ideal, but you can get away with lesser depth. So, the main needs is a high ceiling and enough width to swing freely.

About the garage, I did that route in my last home and it really was not ideal. That said, if you can find one with high ceilings, garage door tracks and openers not in the way, and you have an extra garage bay to have a permanent setup then that is best. I just could not get comfortable having to put up and take down my sim enclosure all the time since we only had a 2 car garage that we both used along with the other things being in the way. Also add in that it was not temperature controlled. It ended up being more of an expensive pain than something I could really enjoy.

Yeah, it almost seems like an impossibility to find a house in a neighborhood we like, at a price we can afford with other parts of the house also meeting our desires. A high ceiling garage just seems more realistic.

i also wish it was easier to search for high ceilings in the basement or garage on places like Zillow. I guess I could start engaging a real estate agent and have them go through that effort.

I’m already committed to parking outside if it means I can have a simulator inside. I’m convinced I could figure out ways to make the temperature manageable with a little work.

I have a garage set-up and while i would like a permanent set-up, with an installed garage heater and a roll up screen, curtains on tracks it is not that bad. I agree that in my next house I will look for 10ft ceilings, the garage is better than nothing.

My setup is in one of the bedrooms. It’s very accessible and always warm but my family complains of noise all the time. So I can’t play past a certain time at night. That’s a problem you won’t have if you setup in garage unless your garage is right over your bedroom :P
