Looking for help on simulator build in RV stall

I'm excited and ready to build my simulator. I've gotten my permission slip signed by the wife to use our RV stall for the project. I have a lot of questions though.

I'm planning on Skytrak, TGC 2019, some form of a fiberbuilt insert with stance mat, an impact screen from Carl's, and whatever projector fits the budget and meets the specifications of the space.

• The RV stall is 12.5' wide x 15.5' tall. I have as much depth as I need, but I was planning to stay around 12' to keep some space for other garage stuff. Is this a reasonable amount of space for swinging? Obviously it's more than tall enough, but how is 12.5' width and 12' away from the wall? Will I need to swing offset to one side?
• How should I mount a projector for this? 15.5' high is verrry high. Do I need to find some extendable ceiling mount to lower the projector or are there other options for mounting?
• I won't need short throw if I have that much space, right?
• How big of a screen should I plan on getting? Would it be best to fill the width of the back wall?
• I plan on building a putting platform that will be 4'6" wide and 12 feet long to place along the left wall. This will leave me about 8' next to it for stance and swing. That won't be a problem, will it?
• Any other suggestions for this set up?

I'll clear out all that stuff obviously. This poorly illustrated picture kinda shows what I'm thinking with the putting platform to the left, the stance mat or platform with hitting area in blue, and the screen against the wall.

If you can afford an RV and a stall for it then skip the sky track and buy a GC2. Far far better. You can buy a mount for the projector and hang it lower. The lower to match the height of the screen the better. The thing about projectors is if its higher you’ll need keystone to adjust. Not great. The father back the more chance of shadows from you head. It’s a balance.

I think you're going to need more than 12' of depth. You will lose about 1' due to where you mount the screen. Then you will need to be at least 6.5' or so from from the screen to be able to swing driver and not hit the screen with your club. You will need a similar amount of distance behind you as well. Since it's an RV stall, i'm assuming you have a lot more depth. You just may lose of the storage space you were trying to keep.

Good point Bond. Depth is crucial. IMO you need 7 feet from the ball to anything behind you and 10 feet from the ball to screen is ideal with 7-8 min.

mthunt, I'm getting started on my shed build (12'x16' deep), and I seem good at 6 feet from ball to behind me, and 8.5 feet - 9.5 feet to screen in front, I guess I could move forward and have 7' to the wall behind me, and 7.5-8.5 to the screen. Is there some advantage to being closer to the screen, such as high lob wedges, etc? I will have 10.5' - 11' high ceilings when I'm done...

There are issues with being too close. The biggest is it’s harder on the screen. Other than that it’s fine. The farther back the more you bring high wedges into play. At 10 feet away and a 9.5 high screen only high flops go over the screen. The bottom line is if you can swing you’re good. I tested 7 feet from the back wall once and it was in my head. I’m over 6 feet tall tho.

Well depth isn't too much of an issue. I'll have plenty of space behind me to swing, it's mostly about where I put the stance mat to keep a walk space and the wife happy. I'll have as much room behind me to swing the club as I need. Do you think the width will work well or need to be offset? And how big of a screen should I get for that space?

You may be offset a little and I would put as wide a screen as you can fit.
