  • Attach mat to floor

I'm sure someone has figured this out. I have a 4x5 divot action mat that sits on top of green carpet. As I swing the 4x5 mat moves all over the place causing me to have to constantly realign the mat. What have people done to hold their hitting mat in place?

I have the Protee. I recessed it into my flooring and secured it with drywall screws around the perimeter.... Click image for larger version

Thanks for the response. My thin layer of carpet is just sitting on cement in an unfinished basement so I don't really have the option of building it into a floor as you described.

Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape, my mat is built into the floor but I use the tape on my CNC Router to hold pieces in place while I am working on them, should work on the carpet just make sure the areas you plan to apply the tape are clean.

I've got a CCE mat that was sliding on my garage floor so I drilled two holes in the garage floor and dropped some concrete anchors in, popped two holes in the back two corners of the mat, then bolted the mat to the anchors. It's been a great fix.

I drilled two holes into my concrete garage floor, through the back corner of my mat with a cheap masonry bit and dropped proper sized lag bolts into the holes. Doesn't slide, and you can pick it up with no problem if you need to.

Since you are on a carpet you should be able to acquire some adhesive backed velcro (the hook side) and stick on the underside of your mat type. The velcro will provide enough friction between the mat and the carpet to keep it from sliding around. You can use as much as you need to provide enough area to prevent slipping.

As previously mentioned you could also drill and use a drop in anchor into your concrete. I'd use the threaded type (1/4-20 thread) so you can easily remove the bolts if you want to move the mat out of the way. I used this method for my CCE mat on the garage floor so it can be removed when working on my cars. It also keeps the mat from sliding around when parking cars and running over the mat. I also use that method to fix the LM to the floor relative to the mat so the hitting position is always the same relative to the LM and the screen..
