Hello All,

I finally buckled down and competed my sim build. This forum was a huge help to me and I would like to pay it forward by posting the info of my build in hopes that it will help someone who is starting theirs.

First off, I had a space attached to my house that was originally a car port then converted to a porch by the previous owner. The porch was a concrete slab already under roof. I framed it in and tied it into the house to create a finished room within the House. The Finished Room is 12' wide x 21' long.

Because of the narrow width I decided to do a corner build that would accommodate right handed players only. (Sorry Lefties)
I will add some pictures that I took throughout the build for your review.

I want to keep it short so I will not get into every piece of material used, however I will respond to any questions on material / setup / pricing.

I would like to thank this forum and the community for their wealth of knowledge and experience. There is a lot of thought that has to go into a build to fit your space and situation.

Nice setup in that space. Any reason you put it at this end by the door vs the other end of the room to get maybe a bigger screen?

wbond, The other end of the room has a centered 5 ft double french door. The room built in the primary exterior door to the house (besides the Front Door), so I needed doors on both ends to make it work with the house. All I could do is offset the back door to allow some room in the corner.

Winch how wide and tall is the screen and any issues with bounceback, side spinning off the screen or spinning up into the ceiling?

Harch84, the screen is 7ft Wide x 10ft Tall. I hung a black archery net https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cimarron-Sp...wAAOSw3ZRY-Bs0 behind the screen. We have some pretty long hitters in our group with many drives over 300 carry being hit. As for bounce back, Driver is basically zero, wedges are the most at 2-3ft. As for spin, there has been no issues. I installed carpet tiles directly above the screen in case a ball spun up the screen into the ceiling but none have made it that high. Side spin has also been a non-issue with nothing going left or right more than a foot.

Harch84, I kept the hitting strip close to the screen at 7.5ft to help with off line shots since the screen is narrow. I am happy to say that there has been one cold shank hit and it still hit well inside the screen. And a good laugh for all watching it on FSX fly sideways off the course.

One thing that has bothered me is how quickly the screen appears to be beaten up with ball impressions, If anyone has any tips on reducing this I'm all ears?? I know it is normal, but it is more than I was expecting. I put up a Carl's Preferred Screen.

Ball marks are generally a function of the type of ball your using... Obviously only use new non logo balls... If a ball gets a cut in the cover get rid of it as that is how you treat up a screen quickly... Par2pro says to not use ProV1s as in their testing proV1s have destroyed screens faster (higher spin and less durable cover) They suggest Srixons... Just FYI... I use Srixons and Bridgestones with good results

You mentioned that you hung an archery screen behind your screen. How far behind did you hang the archery screen?

The archery net is hung touching the back of the impact screen. Then there is about 13 inches between the net/screen and wall.

Curious why you did not hang the archery net in front of the screen? From what I saw, that is the best way to prevent your screen from getting torn to shreds, and yes you will have some pixelation from the projector passing through the screen, but there is a video up on YouTube that shows that it is not noticeable - I think there is one person claiming that they use the Archery Net without an impact screen and that also works...

The archery net that I used is tightly woven solid black. I wanted to have some extra stopping power for the big hitters and also help with picture bleed through. I would not want to use the archery net alone. Its either too loose and the ball puts holes in the wall behind the net or its too tight and the balls rebound back into you. The impact screen does a much better job of absorbing the impact with minimal bounce back. I have read on this Forum that the net behind the screen will also increase the life of the impact screen without ruining the picture.
