  • Concealed Mounting Hardware BEAU CLIPS

Have been searching for ideas on how to hang paneling I am making for the ceiling protection. Making panels to cover a 12x6 area. Have came across these beau clips which snap together. Has anyone tried this how strong are they. Would they hold 3x6 sections of 1/4 on plywood panels with foam. There used on boats for access panels.

The BeauClip Panel Mounting System is a simple and durable fastener solution to prevent panels from slipping, falling, or constantly being repaired.

Great idea! Found some on Amazon. Search FastCap Beau Clip. 25 pcs for $24. Says up to 15 lbs. per clip. Good alternative to adhesive.

Very strong! Hard to release once snapped together. Used them on my build...see link

Thank you all for your amazing contributions to the community...we learned so much from reading through your posts and shared builds. Hope you like our build! Lots of hard work, but well worth it!!! Project went so well, we decided to add golf sim builds to to our contracting business! Look forward to many future builds and

Velcro will also work (or dual lock for stronger). After the panels have been built, stick velcro round the edges and also staple on. Put the other side of velcro on and then stick to ceiling. Leave for a day. To add extra security, take panel off and then staple the ceiling part of the velcro to the ceiling.

Another option which works well is Button Fix (Type 1)
The Button-fix concept is simple: robust Buttons are attached to the background structure and the mating Fixes are attached to the removable panel. Push on the panel firmly until the Button-fixes ‘click’. The versatile and comprehensive range makes panelling walls or ceilings, assembling furniture, and hanging many other interior fittings easy and reliable.

Beau clips also seem to be very good, but for me in the UK they are not so easy to get.

I am currently fabricating my panels and will probably go down the velcro route.

Has anyone seen anything similar to Beau Clips that could work on joints and studs? If I wanted to hang panels over an unfinished space beau clips would require me to put up ply wood, use beau clips and then hang panels doubling the cost and adding only the benefit of sound proofness.

Beauclips will work on joints and studs.
One side of clip screwed into stud, the other into the back of the panel.
Just temporarily screw the back of the panel to the stud(s) before adding the foam/material, then drill through for the clip placings.
Remove panels and add your foam and material, andd your clips in the holes you made on both the panel and the stud... clip in.

Button Fix is also an option.

Okay so just use a 1/2” bit and put the hole directly into the stud. Got it.

              thanks

I've found that you can screw wall panels directly into the studs and not have to mess with beau clips, french cleats, z clips, etc. For my walls, I simply used industrial strength velcro. It works fine and the panels aren't going anywhere. For the ceiling, I was able to tack in place the panels with a little velcro, then shoot small diameter screws through the sides of the panels into the studs. The screws pierce the fabric and set into the plywood base of the panels. They actually pop through the fabric and the hole that's made 1) is too small to see and 2) is on the side of the panel and not visible because the panel next to it covers it up. It works great and is super easy to do.

Your plywood panels need to have a perfectly flat and rigid back, otherwise the clips won't be as effective. My 2x4 ceiling panels had poor hold with 1/4" ply but held much better with 1/2" despite the extra weight.
