We we all set to go to Orlando for Spring Break, but with the park closures there wasn't much point so we pulled the plug on that. That leaves me with about $6k to finally build my enclosure, which I am hoping to order today.
Currently I have a GC2 and Net Return that I hit into, with a 55" LCD TV in my hitting area for the FSX2018 software. Fine for me, but my kids don't like using it and my daughter (at 13 years old) was asked to play varsity golf so I need a better "immersive" experience. Going to be upgrading that to an enclosure. Was ready to pull the trigger on the ForeSight Sim-In-A-Box (I can't mount a projector so this seems perfect) but the $10,500 price seems super high for what you get considering I already have a great PC. Looks to be a 9x12 screen is all that is?
One question I have: My room is huge. Could easily support a 20' wide screen if I wanted. I just worry about the screen sagging at that length and the projector not being bright enough to fill it up. Would rather have a smaller enclosure that looks better. Wanting to do a plug and play solution like the sim-in-a-box setup, would a Carl's DIY enclosure with Premium screen be the way to go? Would 12' or 14' or 16' be the sweet spot for horizontal size/tight screen and bright image? Any other suggestions for a nice, clean, "everything in a box that I need except the pipe" setup with blackout panels and the like?
I think at this point I'll wait until available in a week to order a Optoma GT1090HDR 4200 lumen laser projector and put it on a cart like that have for the ForeSight system with keystone correction, but would love to get the screen and enclosure ordered today.
