  • HD\4K TV Rather Than Projector Since I'm a Lefty?

Got my 12 x 20 shed installed but my contractor can't come out until...well I don't know when with this virus, to run electrical, insulation, Sheetrock and the like. Anyway being a lefty and the wife as well as everyone else I know play righty, would it be better to just use a big screen tv vs projector? Although the shed is 12' wide I moved the mat and Net Return more left of center. As a result when the wife hits, I move the NR back to the right. So...if I use a projector it would have to be on some sort of support beam "slider". I may experiment with putting the mat\NR in the center today, just to see if it's doable.

NOW...just for fun I dusted off an off an "old" 32" HD tv and plugged it to my laptop with an HDMI cable yesterday. It's on a table against the wall so I face it at address. The picture is absolutely stunning compared to the laptop using the e6 demo. I worked at Golfsmith 3 years before they closed for something do. Anyway, I don't recall ever seeing the screen look as rich and vibrant as this little HD tv, even when they'd put in a new bulb.

Oh...BTW, I'd bought a Windows laptop...Inspiron 3585 I think, just to run QuickBooks remotely and work with my accounting firm real time. Paid $300?? at Best Buy in February and the darn thing runs e6 smooth as silk. How about that!

You can run what you like on your setup in your simulator, that's the fun of it. I have an 1080P projector that boost to 2180, a 55" 4K TV and a 65" 1080P TV. I have had up to 4 displays and have moved them around in different positions, what you see in the picture is the setup I now like best.
I would watch on the laptop that you do not have a problem with the CPU over heating.
Also if you do find the perfect setup, let the rest of us know.

If your shed is 12" wide, you could use the entire width for a screen, floor mount a projector and then have both LH and RH players offset from the middle. Obviously It would require two hitting sections, but it would allow both players to swing all clubs and take a projector out of the swing path.

Also, not sure what hardware you are using, but BGcurtis above I think mounted his uneekor on a sliding track to work for both LH and RH players.

That's what I was thinking. Use the entire width for the screen. You'll be slightly offset for both righty and lefty but that's really no big deal. Better to have a bigger screen with a projector and be offset than just having a net with a TV in my opinion. You can probably still ceiling mount the projector too.

Damn...very nice BG. Cozy too with the wood siding. Wish I could un-see your setup it's so nice. Dutch barn style but don't seeding that much...we'll see. Showed it to the wife. She laughed at your "monitor". Said it's as big as the screen I'm using to view e6. Good suggestions all and I'll ponder on it this afternoon. I just figured I'dby the Net Return screen but y'all are thinking the whole 12' wall...got it.

I got a WOW!. See...as incredible as that screen is my little 32" HDTV has a much "richer" picture as I'm sure does yours. OTOH nothing wrong with having both. Right now I run an extension cord just across the patio to my shed so I'm gonna have to wait a little while for a proper setup. I'm a little south of Philly but they have over 500 new cases today so my contractor is stuck at home.

Downloaded the e6 demo...I know everybody likes the other one but at this point I prefer accuracy over quantity. I have the whole course to myself and I think 4 of the best driving ranges imaginable to warm up or just practice. Always felt guilty sneaking in a few swings here and there working at Golfsmith so this is very cool.

We all have to start somewhere, this was my second LM, that is my grand-nephew, took a while to get to where I am at now.

Yeah...that looks more immersive. I’ll study on it so more over the next couple days.

So much for a “couple days”. Still waiting for contractor to put in electrical, carpet, insulation and sheet rock BUT I bought a 55” open box 4K TV from Best Buy today and the difference from a 32” is pretty amazing with the e6 demo...although I’m tired of the same course. I’m probably gonna do the screen and projector y’all suggested after everything is set up. I can tell the Net Return is much quieter than hitting a screen which is great for the neighbors until I get insulation, walls and carpet.

I am also a lefty and, living in Japan, I just don't have space to set up an indoor simulator so have a net return, SkyTrak and laptop that I set up for my sim play. If the weather cooperates, I just leave the net and mat and everything set up when I plan to play on consecutive days but when it rains, I put everything away in a little storage bench. I have a 32" 4k monitor in my study which is just adjacent to my balcony and have it on an Amazon Basic monitor arm. I recently bought another Amazon Basic monitor arm (wall mounted) and installing the mount on the side of the wall on my balcony as it happens to be the direction I am facing when I swing. So now, I can just move the monitor and arm altogether from my desk to about 15 feet and slide it on the mount on my balcony and can easily enjoy fantastic picture in 4k for my sim play. I am always envious to see everyone's great sim rooms with projector and impact screen but that is just not feasible for me here in Japan. In the meantime, the 32" 4k monitor is the perfect balance between quality and convenience.

Having done it both ways, I can say that having a TV is much more convenient and less expensive, but you lose the immersion factor you get with an impact screen and projector. It is a lot more fun to get together with some buddies rather than just playing all by yourself.
