Why was Skytrak the LM choice? I would think the Mevo+ would be easier to accommodate left and right handed golfers and the unit could be easily taken outside and to the course. Given roughly the same price point and software options. Plus, the Mevo+ does not require yearly "game improvement" plans for simulation play. Seems like your sim room would have plenty of space for a Mevo+ and I think it may make for a better option for a HS team.

After reading about it, I think I agree with you guys. Mainly because it would be better if we have any lefties. Luckily we don’t have any our program right now. Honestly I’ll probably do some fundraising and see if I can pick up a mevo plus in a couple years. I was unaware of the mevo plus product. We dont have a range at our course so using at the course isn’t really something that we will do. Tgc 2019 software is something that we really wanted so the kids could play Augusta. My understanding was that tgc 2019 was the only software that allowed this.

What other benefit besides not having to move the unit for lefties does the mevo have over Skytrak?

Mevo+ will work with TGC2019 and you don't need to spend additional money year over year for any "Player Improvement" plan. Plus Mevo+ comes with 5 courses that you can play on an ipad / IOS device. For a HS team it would be the much better option. Even if the course you go to does not have a range you could still take the team to pretty much any driving range and use it with an ipad. Check out some videos on youtube with the product and I think you will see the benefits of Mevo+ over skytrak for your situation.

You are correct Augusta is only on TGC2019 and it's not even listed under that name. There are threads on here that can point you in the right direction to locate it though. Skytrak and Mevo+ are the same price point unless you were looking at the used market. I don't think you can find a used Mevo+ at this point though since the product is so new and the demand is extremely high. I ordered my Mevo+ a month ago and will likely not receive it until late June or early July if all goes well. COVID has delayed production and the product is flying off the shelves. I would say if you order now you may have it by late July or early August. It's worth the wait though.

Unfortunately I had to get the purchase approved for our last school board meeting last week. It’s made out to Skytrak so that’s what it will have to be. I’m a little bummed I didn’t know about the mevo plus because it does sound like a better option. Still excited to get the Skytrak up and going.

We have an additional room adjoining this one so maybe in a few years we can add another sim with a mevo or move the skytrak to the other. Appreciate the advice, just wish it had come sooner. 😀

You can always sell the skytrak and apply funds to the Mevo+. I think Skytrak has a return policy that is pretty decent, so maybe you could sort out a way to get a full refund and purchase a Mevo+ without going through a lot of trouble. Depending on where you purchased the product from maybe they can convert the order to a Mevo+ and not ship the skytrak out. Either way, the skytrak will be a good unit for your team and if you ever want to sell the skytrak there is a good strong resellers market.

Thats definitely a good option to consider. I'm sure this has been discussed at length but from what I've read several have made claims that the MEVO plus struggles with spin and distance especially with longer clubs and higher swing speeds. Any truth to that?

All of the testing that I've seen shows excellent results. Check out the Flightscope channel here on the forum. Scott Hogan Golf selected this as his primary LM for his business and GungHo Golf made the switch to Mevo+ as well. Here is a link to some of that content:

At around $2,000 each, the SkyTrak and the FlightScope Mevo+ represent the most affordable options in accurate, reliable launch monitors for practice and simulated golf play. Both units measure all the critical ball launch data necessary to model real ball flight. Golf enthusiasts are lucky to have two great choices at

Take into consideration that the Mevo+ is a very new product and firmware / bios updates are already being worked on to address some of the early findings that folks on this forum have reported. Some of the issues people have had with Mevo+ are environmental / setup related. Some are at the bare minimum for distance or in some cases even less than the recommended distance for the device. My overall impression is all LM's have strengths and weaknesses, but for your application for a HS golf team the Mevo+ would be a much better option.

                  My points would be:
                  • Accommodates LH and RH players without needing to move the unit
                  • No risk of damage to the system if someone shanks a shot since the Mevo+ sits 8' behind the player
                  • No annual fee required for simulation play
                  • No need to purchase any simulation software since the product comes with 5 courses for life with E6
                  • Works better outdoors than Skytrak ( Mevo+ can work in direct sunlight and Skytrak simply can't )
                  • Will be extremely accurate outdoors
Jay Lasco has a ton of video's with the Mevo+ if you search for " Golf Simulator Videos " in youtube you will see lots of comparisons. The Mevo+ compares extremely well even to his $60,000 HD Golf setup. He has also done some early comparisons to Uneekor QED systems and Mevo+ is spot on with those systems as well. I'll get my unit in a few weeks and report my findings, but I think most people that have the space would choose Mevo+ over Skytrak. It's still early on, but I think a number of forum members here made the switch to Mevo+ and sold their Skytraks over the past few months. Those that had enough space I think have made the switch and have been happy.

Depends on where you are located you may be able to link up with a forum member and do some side by side testing. If you are anywhere in Maryland let me know and when my unit comes in I would be happy to compare the two units with some of your HS players.

                    Thanks,

I've read up on this but I'm still not positive on the answer. Can the skytrak function without a wifi connection? Are there limited features if you are connecting directly to it? We aren't going to be able to get a wifi connection until school starts so I'm wondering what functionality it will have without it. I'd like the kids to be able to come down and hit balls on it when the quarantine is over.

You can directly connect to the Skytrak with a phone, iPad, or computer and use the Skytrak app

Finally got the black fabric and foam around the enclosure. I was lucky enough to get an old leather sofa donated so we now have some seating. Had to hook up the Nintendo and play some super tecmo bowl on the giant screen!

I think the projector is mounted a little too high because I’m getting a shadow on the top of the screen. I’m planning on lowering it to correct that issue. A few questions:

                          1. What is the appropriate mounting height? The top bar of the enclosure sits at 9’10”.

                          2. I didn’t put the foam padding on the back top rail. Is there supposed to be?

Very cool! Great build. Are you going to surprise the team with a reveal of the room? If so, would love to see the vid of their faces when they see the room. I would poop my pants if my HS team had this growing up.
