Hey guys,
I just wanted to share my build and experience with everyone. Probably like a lot of new memebers here, this whole SIP has pushed me to build my own sim. This is definately something I've always wanted to do, but SIP has pushed me to do it soon rather than later. At first, I only wanted a mat w/ a hitting net and maybe a Optishot. Then after some research, I found that hitting cages were pretty affordable. After more research, I found that Optishot wasn't what I was looking for. Friends told me that I wouldn't be happy with it. So I started looking at Skytraks and one thing lead to another and here I am........ about $2k over buget counldn't be happier about it. Since almost everything is sold out/back ordered, I slowly started piecing the parts together. Here's a list of items and where I purchased from:
Skytrack, Facebook forum
Connector fitting for Cage (10x12x10): http://tarps.com/chrome2.htm
Pipes 1": Homedepot
BenQ TH671ST projector: Ebay
SuperTex Screen 144"x108" & Netting: Ebay
Ultimate Simulator Tee Golf Mat: https://www.allturfmats.com/Ultimate...t-p/ob-4x5.htm
Various pipe clips, bungees: Amazon
Black tarp: https://www.chicagocanvas.com/produc...do-cloth-16oz/
I opted for a cage set up due to where the sim is going to be placed. I'm putting it in a small area in a storage warehouse, so a cage is perfect for me. I originally ordered a 10x10x10 cage with a screen, but about a week after I placed the order the company said it was on back order until end of May. I'm really glad that happen cause I had second thoughts about the width and wanted to go wider, so everthing worked out and I ordered everthing seperately. Putting up the cage was pretty simple. I added a couple of extra sections in the cage but only took about 2.5hrs including the netting and screen. I still have to adjust the screen to get all the wrinkles out. I still have to instill the projector and the top netting. I also have commando cloth that I'm going to wrap over the cage for better lighting. I still don't know what to do at the bottom of the screen. I'm going wrap the pipe with insultion and I'm thinking about pulling the screen low enough to create a ramp for the ball, but not sure if that'll work. Any thougts?
Here are some pics of my progress. I'll update as I go.
