I am new to sim, I am wondering if I’m expecting too much out of my screen and projector. I put my screen up last night. I purchased it from Carl’s place. I bought the premium screen after reading it has a crisp picture. I currently have a optima 412st projector. The projector seems to have focus issues. I can get it focused on left but it will be blurry on right or focused on top and blurry on bottom. Can’t get all four equal. Even the focused corners seem blurry. Can’t get center to get sharp edges at all. I wonder if the screen is the issue? I’m not sure it produces a crisp picture regardless of projector. I put a light behind screen and I can see it has thin spots that light passes through. Not sure if than means anything. I guess my question is can I get a hd quality picture with a impact screen?look at pic below to see light coming through screen inevenly.

Do you have a white wall in your house the you can project an image into to make sure it is not your projector? Next check to make sure your screen is is plumb (or however you spell that word).

I have projected on wall, image looks better on wall but still has focus issues in all corners. The impact screen seems to make image more fuzzy and also causes contrast loss. screen is mounted good. I have never analyzed a impact screen before or have the ability to compare screens. Therefore I do not know what to expect from the image quality. I have a home theater and I am used to that image quality of that so I may be expecting too much. I am upgrading to the Epson5050bu to get more contrast and I hope better edges for my simulator. Wormburner a couple of things i think you should check is to make sure your resolution matches your aspect ratio of your screen, don't rely on the projector to convert the image to fit your screen as i've heard that is less than ideal. Also if you can avoid using keystone correction that is also something i've heard messes with the image quality. I don't think image quality will ever be perfect using impact screens, but probably be better than what you're seeing.

Sort of to this point ... it looks like your projector requires a pretty good vertical offset. How far is it from the screen and how far above the screen do you have it mounted? (Or how far below if you have it on the floor). If you're having issues with top or bottom edges being blurry, it sounds like you might be using some keystone correction to square up the image?

I have not mounted yet to the ceiling. The reason I have not mounted is I want to make sure I get the right projector for set up. @3on3putt I currently just have projector on the floor testing with no zoom or keystone correction. I have tried different aspect ratios with same outcome. Projector is not bad but definitely limited. So its not the edges that is the main issue. When I manually adjust focus I can only get one side to look clear at a time. The center is never really clear. I know we are focusing on projector which I am upgrading because I need more contrast but also a lens shift capability. I would like some input on screen, it just seems to degrade image output of projector. Colors are not as bright and edges of graphic seem fuzzy. I hope a better projector helps but I am not certain. @jerry3 I use the E6 software and I could not find how to convert image to 4:3 aspect to see if image is sharper.

first change the resolution/aspect ratio from within windows itself

then on the projector leave the aspect ratio at native

There should be a way to change the resolution within e6. I don't have e6 so can't say for sure.

If you have Carl's Premium Golf Impact Screen (not the preferred) then it is basically as good as you can get
