Golf carpet/putting material between hitting mat and screen

Hello all,

I've got almost every component purchased for my simulator, except for a few small details. What are people using for the landing area of the golf ball, and to extend putting surface between the hitting mat and the impact screen? I'm looking for a highly economical solution, that's somewhat aesthetically pleasing and performs well enough.

Depends on your size? Turf are usually the most expensive part of the flooring.
Economically, you'll want to pick up remnants from a local turf company, save on shipping and maybe a better price than buying a custom cut. I was fortunate to find one that had over bought for a previous project and they sold the remnant at cost. I picked up some 1" rigid foam insulation and DriCore boards (Home Depot) to build the sub-floor for the turf to match the height of the FiberBuilt mat. Ended up costing about $650 ($450 just for the turf) to build a 14'x9' area between the Fiberbuilt and screen. Last pieces are the 3D printed putting cups a friend is making for me.

Hi there, kind of have the same setup with a Carl's 13x10 enclosure. Just wondering how the 1 inch foam and the dri-core have worked out for you. Did you use padded turf or plain putting turf? Thanks

Where did you get your screen and bay enclosure?

Robbyp03 Built the enclosure using 1" EMTs from HomeDepot and got the connectors through Tarps.com, there's a thread in the build forum that's pretty easy to follow on how to build one yourself. Black commando cloth from Chicago Canvas to wrap the frame. The screen is the SQ raw model from Par2Pro, I took a gamble in their 'imperfect' deal and it was quite perfect (just a small section has light stain that was fortunately close to the end that I can cut off).

TR7211 They've held up just fine (even w/ the little grandkids jumping on them ). The putting turf is not padded and is held down mostly on it's own and double-sided carpet tape along the edges.

Thanks for getting back to me. Even without the padded turf , is ball bounce off floor pretty reasonable?

No issues with bounce back, for the most part. There are sporadic off center (of the screen) shots that rolls further back but never had any that bounced back dangerously. The vast majority of the time, the ball just rolls back to my hitting position. But I think the bounce is heavily dependent on your screen, fortunately my screen provides very little bounce back.

I have a 5 x 5 hitting mat and a SkyTrak simulator. Since the SkyTrak only reads the ball for a few inches, I have had no trouble putting from my hitting matt. It is out of SkyTrak's range by the time it hits the other turf. My other turf, as you can see in the picture, is a non-directional artificial turf meaning that the fibres are somewhat matted providing cushion. It is 1 1/2 inches tall, doesn't require padding, and matches almost perfectly the height of my hitting matt. I got an 11 x 13 remnant from a local turf supplier ($270) and I just told them I needed something that would provide cushion that did not include or require padding. The ones that did have padding were SUPER heavy, and mine was heavy enough that it took two of us to get it in and out of my SUV.

Probably 8 feet maximum. I move the Skytrak all the way to the right to hit driver, but I can get a full swing in no problem. Although my room looks cool, I am jealous of the guys with a 20' wide room.
