Simulator Build Design Help!

Hey folks,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I am currently having a detached garage built in which I will be building my first golf simulator and am looking for tips on design and layout.

The only things set in stone are:

1) The garage will be 24' long, 16' wide and have 12' foot ceilings. I can budget to use anywhere between 12-15' of the length starting from the back of the garage (no garage door to contend with) and the entire width/height.

2) I am 99% likely to buy Skytrak.

3) I will have both LH and RH golfers play.

4) Will be doing a fibrebuilt insert hitting strip.

If you had the empty space, what would you do? What size enclosure? How far from the screen would you set the hitting area? Other design aspects?

Alternatively - is there a reasonably priced service out there that can design the build for you?

Skytrak is designed to be used by both righties and lefties, but not really at the same time. If a righty and lefty were playing together, you'd be having to move the unit all around in between each shot and getting it aligned each time. Wouldn't exactly be the best experience.

A Mevo+ might be better suited for a righty-lefty setup (provided that the 16 feet is wide enough so that they can hit from the same spot) and is the same cost as Skytrak. But with a Mevo+, you will need a little more room length-wise so you will want to maximize that length as much as possible. 15 feet is probably doable with a Mevo but I will let the Mevo users chime in to give you a better answer. But yeah, Skytrak is not so good for doing the righty-lefty thing.

Thanks for the feedback. For the foreseeable future it will likely get 90% of its use by just me (I’m the weird lefty). I’ve looked into options for moving the unit from side to side and I think it won’t be too annoying for when needed.

I considered Mevo but I don’t think I’ve got the length to really put it off.

Is Uneekor out of the budget on the launch monitor? The overhead unit would be ideal in your space

Unfortunately yeah, at this point it is. Wife only let me go so far with building the garage, etc. Down the road I will definitely upgrade.

GSA IR Stereo (all in one unit) is a cheaper though not as feature heavy variant.

Spin is calculated though with that, isn't measured spin ideal?

Measured is preferred for sure. However in that price range (4K) it is virtually impossible to get RH/LH, Full club and ball data.
