Hi everyone, I have just recently decided to build a semi sim, I say semi sim as it will also be a gym, garage and kids dumping ground for sure. I have gained a ton of insight from reading this forum and it has changed my mind 10 different ways on how I though I would originally go about it. I was originally going to do a Skytrak as my garage dimensions might suit that better, however after reading about how much more the Mevo+ can offer I would like to try and use that.

Ok so a bit about my space and needs. I have a garage that has a garage door on one end and storage space on the other. I have attached a photo looking down at the storage space below, all the other shit will be gone. The storage space has a roller door on it. So as not to interfere with the Mevo+ radar I would leave that open. But in order to fully utilise the storage space and have as wide a screen as possible I am aiming to build a wooden frame and place the screen on a sort of hinge wooden frame so I can open the screen like a door to get behind it. I got the idea from seeing a photo of another members setup in here, I included this below for reference too. My one would have an additional right hand side wood panel to be the "door" and I would hitch it to the outside frame when closed.

Can anyone see issues with this?

    My room is 3.55m wide ( 11.64 feet) x 5.7m long ( 18.7feet) x 2.95m high (9.6 feet)

A few questions on hitting from 8 feet from the screen as is required by Mevo+. what is the minimum height a screen would need to be and/or ceiling protection to hit 60 degree wedges from 8 feet. I haven't tried hitting into a screen/net in the room yet but I am worried about launching balls right into a projector- a flop shot would do it for sure so have to rule that out but does anyone know how much ceiling protection i need for wedges shots from 8-9 feet out or the minimum height the screen should be to ensure I hit it?

Also what screen size should I be aiming for here, obviously it depends on the width of the frame i build but how much space do you allow between the screen and the frame if I am using bungee cords to hold it and is the best aspect ratio 4:3 with a short throw projector ? This places the projector around 2m out from the screen. should I worry about balls impacting it from anything?

Thank you all in advance for your insights and assistance.

    1. For screen height and wedges ...... the best thing to do is have a ceiling for your enclosure with netting. Mine extends 2.5 feet out and is 10 feet high. Many people go 5 feet out. That will take care of any high-lofted shots. Plus it keeps all the balls in a confined area.

    2. You shouldn't be hitting your projector with balls, even with a flop shot. The only danger should be a ball bouncing back hard off the screen and back at the projector. If your projector is in the way of a shot directly off the clubface, it's in the wrong place.

    3. Bungees and tarp clips is a great way to hang a screen. Leave around 4-6 inches or so between the screen and frame to create some tension. You can always fold the sides of the screen to create the right amount of space, so ordering an exact width is not totally necessary. If anything, err on the side of a little bit too wide and just fold accordingly.

    4. 16:9 is the preferred aspect ratio as most all projectors are 16:9 native and you will maximize your resolution in 16:9. But since you have a more squared off room dimension, 4:3 might suit you better. Plenty of people (myself included) use 4:3 due to room dimensions. I could do 16:9, but I have a much taller image in 4:3 so I use that. You could maybe do an image 11 feet wide and 8.25 feet tall and run 4:3. If you ran 16:9, your image height would only be around 6 feet.
