  • Suggestions on marking screen taut.

    Hello everyone,

I am new to the golf sim world and have been working on my simulator the past couple of months. I have a more unique setup that is like a curtain. I now need to figure out how to make the curtain more taut for the projector image. Should I use pvc pipes on each side and bungie the screen to it and the the pvc pipe to wall? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Start by pulling the screen to the side as tight as it will go. It looks like you've left a ton of slack at the top where the hooks are. Use as much of that top bar as you can.

You could add some weight to the bottom by attaching a PVC pipe (and perhaps filling it with sand or something for some added weight) and then wrapping it in foam.

The best thing to do though is to add some side bars and attach the screen to the bars with ball bungees. I think it will be hard to get it nice and smooth without having any sort of side tension.

Just put some eyebolts into the side walls and get some bungee cords and when you slide it out, connect the bungees to the grommet holes on the screen and to the eyebolts. You only want it it pulled tight enough to get it flat. Adjusting the tension may take a little trial and error, so if you are able to get adjustable bungees, it would be even better.

        Might try two things...

        1) Put two eye bolts in the ceiling at the right distance past the outside edges of the top corners. Use bungees from the top corner grommets to the eye bolts. This should keep the top tight across at the top.
        2) Wrap 1" PVC (or wood dowel, or whatever) in foam pipe insulation, enough for the entire width of the screen. Roll the screen under to the back and cradle the foam/PVC. Secure the corner grommet to the one just above it.

This should help the screen hang down tight but still be loose enough to absorb impact without it launching back at you.
