  • My build has started in the UK

Basically I had a 3 car garage that was in a poor state and needed modernising, I sold my trackcar and my M4 doesn’t need to be put away so I thought I would make better use of the space with a golf simulator and gym.

Planning permission granted to raise roof height so my usable space is 8.4m (l) x 5m (w) x 2.7 (h).

One big fixed window (2.1 x 1.4) and a double sliding door (3.6 x 2.1) in black powder coated aluminum.

Inside walls and ceiling will be clad in birch ply, outside on Western Red Cedar with a translucent black stain. Green roof.

Space will be separated in two halves of 4m x 5m for the golf Sim and 4.2m x 5 for the gym.

    Golf Sim
Golf Sim machine is a GCQuad from Foresight with full club data and putting data.

Improve your golf performance with Foresight Sports GCQuad launch monitor. Trustworthy, advanced, and accurate technology used by professionals.

Software is FSX2020 from Foresight and is running on a Dell Alienware Gaming PC.

I’m going to use the Elite Simulator enclosure from Golf Tech Systems

    https://www.golftechsystems.com/col...closure/products/the-elite-enclosure-mid-size

Need to source a minimum of 5k lumen projector, probably a Panasonic.

Flooring will be artificial putting turf with a golf mat on top or cut into it. This area is my biggest dilemma as I want it to look good and also be kind to my elbows. I have hit on pretty much all the options and still can’t decide.

    Gym
I’ll be using Watson equipment, a Power Rack (no Smith) with 2 cable machines, thick grip bars, safety squat bar, Olympic plates, Poliquin Dumbbell handles and eco plates and a bench.

Waterrower for cardio and TRX for body weight.

Might get a Wattbike Atom but worried I mighthave to buy some Lycra and shave my legs.

I’ll update as we go along.

      Awesome re-use of space!

Is the sim likely to only be used by yourself? I ask because I've got a similar size space (3mx5.8mx2.74m) and there's a few things I had to consider.

Firstly was that I built this as a means to share golf with friends, from home. So I had to have seating in my eyes. With the screen about 1m in from the wall and 45cm deep seats, the space in between on a driver leaves about 10cm from club head to screen when swinging, and only about 30cm to their kneecaps when someone is seated.

Secondly, and in a similar vein, is if you do have people round, where would they put their clubs?

Finally, I can attest that 2.74m for height is not a lot of height for clearance. At 6ft I'm not exactly short, but I've got what I consider a natural swing arc and I feel 100% confident I won't hit the roof (haven't yet in about 1000 shots). However, similarly heighted friends with more vertical swings I know are uncomfortable with longer clubs. I don't have the launch monitor yet, so haven't had the excuse to get them around to really feel it out, but initial impressions are it might be too small for them to drive (or maybe use irons only).

With that in mind, do you have the option to make the room a bit deeper and taller, or comfortable there's no need to?

Excited to see it!! Lycra I’ve heard shaves strokes off so let us know how that goes...

You're having to raise the ceiling to get to 8.8 feet? (2.7m) How tall is it currently? That's still quite short. Would be closer to 8.5 with a hitting mat in place. Any option to raise it a bit more?

2.7m will be fine, I have been in there swinging under the steels, which are 18mm above the ceiling level. Stood on a pallet to simulate the flooring and was well clear. My builder (plays off 6) and is taller than me also did the same and again no where near.

Wow looks excellent. Are you going to be renting out the rest of your house as I suspect you will be spending a lot of time here.

I'm so jealous. Very nice setup. What flooring are you using in the space? Thank you.

Thanks guys, super happy with it. Designed and project managed myself, I am a bit OCD so it was rather consuming.

                              I am not Bryson BTW.
