First Time Sim Build - Advice

Spent a lot of time on this forum, although I wish I discovered a bit earlier before I started ordering thing. Building a sim room in my unfinished basement Dimensions are 8'10'' height, 13 ft wide, 20 ft long (but at 11.5 ft, there is an HVAC pipe where height drops to 7.5 ft). Here is where I stand today

Carl's DIY Enclosure 8X10.5X5 enclosure (wish i could have gone wide, but was concerned about HVAC pipeline) - $840
Uneekor QED - $6000
TCG 2019 - $950

Optoma GT 1090 HDR - $1450 – still not sure whether this will work with my 4:3 set up/ceiling height/etc to fill screen

Cheap green turf carpet from Lowes 12x8 – $45- might upgrade this in future

Projector will need to be 7 ft from the screen and between 9ft and 9ft2in from floor (assuming bottom of screen is on the floor)

I was thinking that might be an issue (either doesn't fill bottom or top). Do you think it will be possible to adjust with zoom/distance placement or should I have picked a different projector.

It's only 2 inches! I'd be surprised if you can find a projector that exactly fills the screen.

Just a few thoughts: My set up is pretty close to what you described above, I have Carl Premium that is 16x9 with 5 ft extension and using a EYE XO and the 1090GT---the 1090 is a short throw and I have it placed about 9 feet from the screen (it doesn't have a 16x10 setting, but it does allow for horz/vert sizing that would prob fill most of screen)...If done again, I would not buy a short throw with a 16X9 screen and 5 feet extension, it slightly creates a couple inch shadow at top of screen....For my EYE XO TGC 2019, it requires a min video card for the software to run, I believe the video card in this computer is the minimum it needs to run, I would look into a 2000 series (2070 or 2080), the 3000 series will be coming out soon but will be way overpriced.

I thought the min software requirement was GTX 1060? Didn't spend more on the GTX 2000+ GPU since I thought I would be limited by my projector (1080 max HD) and the fact the impact screens aren't very high resolution anyways.

Congrats you are off to a good start, I have a similar set up with the Uneekor QED. You will really enjoy it. We. are also considering the 1090GT but prefer to wait for a 16:10 version to fill our screen. We created a slight ramp at the bottom of the screen, the ball hits it off the screen and rolls right to the hitting area. Also hides the bottom of the screen well. We have a Country Club Elite mat and wished we went with the Fiberbuilt. Our width is similar and we get a lot of R&L play, with a 14 inch hitting area, we cheat the ball to either side to hit down the middle. Your mat shows L&R hitting zones. We also used Vant panels for the ceiling and one side. If your walls are open we ran USB 3.0, ethernet and 7.1 surround for Movies and other games (Although we find most of our use dedicate to the simulator. We ordered all our speakers from https://www.htd.com. We also recessed the sensor to achieve the recommended ceiling height. Good luck

How big is that screen? Great idea on the small ramp - how did you build? Also how important do you think sound system is - I will be using this room for golf sim only? What did you need the USB 3.0 for?

13 feet by 9 ft screen the ramp is simple 2x4 's nailed on the side covered with plywood. The sound system comes in real handy with sports, Xbox, YouTube and the challenge games in QED. Golf Sim only, not that important. My PC is located across the room in a closet with the receiver, needed USB for keyboard and peripherals.

Very nice JKCapeCod - are those jujitsu mats on the side walls? I'm trying to decide between doing something like that, or hanging curtains? The ramp is also an excellent idea, one that I will put in place too, thanks.

Ok, 16 on both sides, and 28 across top? They are $36/each with discount = 44 x $36 = $1,584? I think I'll look at JuJitsu cushions instead. Is there some benefit to using those Vantpanels? Are they fabric stapled over foam onto a board?
