  • Thoughts on build list before purchasing?

Hi all, the below chart outlines what I plan to purchase for my simulator build. Any thoughts/suggestions before I pull the trigger? I'm going to wait it out until Black Friday/Cyber Monday to see if there are any deals.

Of note, the rubber mats will be stacked on top of each other (3 layers, 0.5inch thick each), with the Conscience putting green placed on top, so as to create a flush surface (or close enough) to the 2inch TrueStrike mat (I'll cut a hole in the rubber mats to place the TrueStrike mat). This platform will also support the Carl's DIY enclosure. I'm also buying enough rubber mat to cover the playroom for my kids. The mats will be placed on my cement basement floor.

Additionally, I think I may be overpaying for the projector and Uneekor QED mounts/extensions - so I would welcome any recommendations that would do the trick for less (QED needs to come down about a foot, and the projector about two feet).

Last, Carl's has a bundle that saves about $600 if you get the DIY enclosure, QED and software, but unfortunately the DIY enclosures aren't offered in the dimensions I want - I have an inquiry in with them to see if a substitution is possible. I've placed the full priced components below.

I wonder if 3 layers of rubber will make the floor too "spongy". Have you considered some OSB or similar for the bottom layer?

Good thought. Would you think replacing 2 layers of the rubber mat with OSB would be a more realistic putting surface? So OSB / OSB / Rubber Mat / Putting Mat. Or should I just scrap the rubber mat entirely?

      Here’s what I found online: https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-2-4-ft...0663/100072564

Nothing beats trying it out. If you can get a sample, or buy a small amount, try the different configurations of wood rubber and grass. Test standing in it and how a ball bounces on it. My sim room is also in the planning stage (hoping to start the build this month). At the moment I'm assuming a 3 layer floor: chipboard, firm foam, artificial grass, but I won't know for sure until I try it out.

I think you are going way overboard on the flooring. My build is not quite complete but here is what I did.
Installed Dri Core tile (1" thick) on cement floor. This provides moisture barrier and firm, level floor. I built it around my stance and Soft Strike mats. I raised the stance mats 3/8" with left over drywall. Covered the floor behind the mats with peel and stick carpet tiles from Lowes. The front and sides is used Sport Turf synthetic Grass peel and stick 23.5x23.5" squares (1/2" thick) from EZ Carpet. They have foam backing and cushion and deaden the ball bounce. Very easy to install. Not exactly seamless but nevertheless functional and attractive. For putting from the Soft Strike mat I ordered a practice Strip from ProPutt Systems but it hasn't arrived yet. Shipping delays are the most frustrating aspect of this project.
Nothing beats good planning but you can get so tied up with sorting options that you might never get started. Improvising and revisions are unavoidable.
