  • Best lighting room for cameras?

I am looking to install a Uneekor EyeXO in a room that's getting built now. Their SwingOptix cameras require a lot of light to get a clear image as do other camera systems. At the same time, I don't want to wash out the image on the impact screen. Has anyone found great spot lighting or another solution to light-up the golfer but not the screen area. For me, it's only 9 ft from the ball to the screen. Did anyone perhaps paint part of the room black near the screen and white near the golfer. Any practical suggestions are appreciated.

Here is a previous post from our experience: I would add we turn the dedicated floods (side) and the overhead recess dimmers on full when focusing on swing analysis. If we are playing a course , practicing or playing the challenge games we resort to standard lighting.
Update: We decided to purchase the Swing Optix cameras. After a bit of tweaking and support from Uneekor they are working very well. Integrate well with Refine, Ignite SO and TGC2019.

Lessons learned and a few tips:

    1. Upgrade all our recessed BR30's to Philips flicker free LED 5K Daylight bulbs.
    2. The 2 spots over the hitting zone placed 100 W version of the Philips bulb
    3. Added 2 angled 100W spots toward the hitting zone. Only turn on when we are analyzing our swing. Plenty of light , no blur.
    4. Our Lenovo gaming PC is located in a closet, needed a 12M cable. This extended cable works flawlessly, the hardest part is running it through the walls and the ceilings.

    5. Fixed mount the facing camera on the wall for permanent mounting. We used this bracket: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    6. Your swing always looks worse than what you picture in your mind.

JKCapeCod This room looks amazing. I had my foundation poured today for the room addition to our house with the framing of the walls starting on Wednesday so I'm excited about figuring out all of the pieces for a good room for both dedicated practice and fun matches with friends. Please let me as a few more questions. Are any of these lights "spot lights" vs. "flood lights"? Is the fixed mount facing camera on the wall to the right of that door I see on the right? What are the 2 different types of black material on the walls and floor? Is having black near the screen and white in the back of the room helpful for lighting? It looks like after the ball drops from the screen, it hits a tilted floor to roll the ball back to you. Is that right? Do you find the computer keyboard a monitor a bit far from you and would you move it towards the back of the room if not for that door? Any other over all things you love that you did or regret would be appreciated. Would you mind sending a photo showing that 2nd camera position? Thanks so much!

Totally agree on #6. Reality is far from perception.

Do you have a link to the Philips flicker free LED 5K Daylight bulbs? Thanks

Congrats on getting started. The hitting area is standard cans with the upgraded Philip non flicker bulbs. The spots pointed directly at the hitting zone are this fixture: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The padded panels on the ceiling and right wall are black vantpanels.com, easy to install and look and work great.
The carpet squares are self adhesive, I stapled them as well: Bought at iCarpettiles.com. The black contrast works well.
13 feet by 9 ft screen the ramp is simple 2x4 's nailed on the side covered with plywood. The ramp is the best, the balll just rolls right back to the hitting mat and cleans up the bottom of the screen.
The sound system comes in real handy with sports, Xbox, YouTube and the challenge games in QED. Golf Sim only, not that important.
My PC is located across the room in a closet with the receiver, needed USB for keyboard and peripherals: Location works well, purchased a backlit keyboard to make it easier. Run all your cables needed (Ethernet, HDMI, USB2.0, Optix cabling)
From all I read Fiberbuilt is better than the CCE mat we have for joint pain, although we are fine with it
The New Optoma GT 1090 laser looks real nice, we are considering upgrading. Higher lumens the better
Swing Optix cameras are well worth the investment. The 2nd camera is permantly mounted (I had to purchase a longer cable, which we ran thru the walls and ceiling). I will send a photo later.

Hi, I love your room setup. I also purchased the Swing Optix and will be installing recessed lighting this week. A few questions related to lighting:

        1. For swing analysis: How many recessed lights do you have on?
        2. Are the 2 spot lights on different sides of the room because you do a Left/Right setup, or are both required even if only doing right side only?
        3. You mention that for regular play you resort to standard lighting, what does that entail? Same number of recessed lights, but dimmed or a different light source?

        Thanks!

          Sorry, missed this.
          1. 6 cans and 2 directional spots
          2. We do have L7 R play, I just decided to mount on each side to add as much light as possible. They are shut off during normal play. The facing camera is mounted so not to helpful for lefties.
3.The cans are dimmed, the 2 spots closest to the scree and spots are off.

          Best of luck

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up with 4 cans and 1 directional spot. I haven't set-up the cameras yet, but if it turns out that more light is needed I still have 2 more cans I can install.

What is the distance from "tee" to cameras? If I am reading Uneekor's directions correctly they are recommending 5 feet camera facing and 6 feet for camera behind. I'd prefer to mount on the walls versus have cables and the tripod.

JKCapeCod - did you end up pursuing the Optoma GT1090 HDR and trying it with Eye XO/swing optix cameras? The Uneekor site suggests these don’t work with Swing Optix camera as they are not LCD based (?) - DLP causes flickering effects apparently and hence wanted to check if you had tried this projector or not https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/03...co_Feb2021.pdf

plus they recommend these bulbs too: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/03...co_Jan2021.pdf

I’m debating between Optoma, new upcoming viewsonic that’s supposedly 4K but based on DC3 (not LCD) https://www.viewsonic.com/eu/product...ctors/PX748-4K
or maybe Panasonic VZ580 that’s WUXGA (so not quite 4K but decent) - not very savvy on projector technologies so wondering what aspects would I need to prioritise projector by - lumens? 4K? DLP vs LCD?

AND at present I intend to experiment with cheaper camera options so hopefully my choice of projector isn’t that limiting.

My room dims approx 20’x17’ and 10’6” height with 16x9 screen if all pans out to plan - with room only lit by lighting, no ambient daylight. Hence trying to plan for lights, light locations, dimmers, flicker free bulbs etc.

We never made the change on the projector, waiting on a short throw (.5-.6) 3500 or > lumens laser that is native 16:10 to better fit our screen.

Where did you get those black pads/tiles you used in your set up?
