Love this site guys. I have a question that you may be able to answer for me. I have an unusual location for a sim with super high ceiling (2 story +) so hanging a projector is almost impossible. I have seen systems like Trugolf that places the projector on the floor in a protective cover. This seems like it would prohibit all putting but honestly putting on a sim is not very good anyway. Have any of you installed or played with the projector located in front of you on the ground? Does it freak people out? Is it compatible with either Skytrak or Mevo+? I would love to get a Uneekor but again, the ceiling height really makes it difficult if not impossible. Appreciate ANY advise/comment etc

If they can demonstrate all launch monitors at the PGA show in a convention center sized room, then you can mount a system in your room. 2+ stories isn't the limitation here.
What's the dimensions of this space? There can be a lot of constraints. Money, partner approval, undedicated space, fear of a sim cage in the home, etc.
Build a support structure to hold your gear and contain the balls. What's going to stop your flop/sand shots? What's going to block out ambient light from the screen?
A floor projector directly in front of the ball never really made sense to me. If I was forced to that kind of layout, just buy a projector with horizontal offset. I still think overhead is a much better position.
Skytrack only sees the ball in very specific positions near the visible laser. Mevo+ watches the ball all the way to the screen, although it may change for putting. Someone else needs to chime in for the mevo+ info regarding floor projectors. Again, some just mount a projector on a stand near/with the keyboard mouse and use the horizontal offset of the projector.
Putting is outstanding on the uneekor. I think it translates well to the golf course. I went back after a few months and added a putting surface toward the screen. It completely changed the sim experience for consistent and readable putting speeds and direction.
If this is a serious golf space, then buy and build what you deserve.Last edited by Will; 10-23-2020, 04:29 AM.Uneekor QED / The Golf Club 2019

Thanks for the reply. Really appreciate any and all thoughts/comments/suggestions. When it comes to the Uneekor, the only examples I have seen in large, open areas are deep cages (10'+). I was hoping to have a 5' deep enclosure and then add some side curtains on a slider so I could tuck them away. I'm new to this and not sure how to hang the unit when I have a 20-25' ceiling. This is what had me looking at the Mevo+. For the price difference, I could add a pretty big putting green from Pro Putt Systems or like unit. I think Uneekor is probably the best solution for my needs, I just need to figure out how to hang it (and a projector). I was looking at the sim in a box and they keep the projector off to the side on a cart. This is the first I have ever seen this.

What are the room dimensions? I have 20x50 with 17 in height and I used steel cable on the 20 foot length pulled tight with turnbuckles. More than strong enough to hold a 36 lb GC Hawk and an Optoma 1090. I was going to hang a 20 foot LVL beam across but my contractor friend said that was overkill to hang 60ish pounds of gear.

I hadn't thought of cable. The room is 36' w by 45' deep. I would estimate there is a span of 20' from the loft to the front of the building. That would be approx 10' high. If I ran a cable from the loft to the front of the building, that might do the trick. I wish I knew how to post pics to better show what I am talking about.
Any chance you can post a pic of your setup? Also, do you have both he projector and Uneekor hanging off the same cable?

I have a GC Hawk and a projector with 3 cables across serving to hold the mounting system and a 4th cable that holds the top of my netting. I wanted to decouple the netting so any impact vibrations wouldn’t go back to the launch monitor or the projector. See pic below. I’m not quite done hiding wires and cleaning it up mostly because it’s too fun to hit balls now that it’s functional. Projector on top mounted to a 2x6, galvanized pipe to a 2x4 with the launch monitor mounted to that. Very stable and adjustable. It sits 3 feet ahead of hitting zone and the monitor is 10 feet above.

Suspending a platform 10' over the hitting area is possible.
Minimum of 3 cables from the ceiling. Getting the data back would be the trick.
Another approach to support a platform could be 2 horizontal beams anchored to the wall 10' up. Have them extend out to the hitting area, minimum of 8' from the wall. Anchor cables at a 45 or extend from ceiling to support.Last edited by Will; 10-24-2020, 12:48 PM.Uneekor QED / The Golf Club 2019
