Hi all,

I started looking at cabins earlier this year, just before the virus hit. I had the attached specs from a company near me in the Midlands. I am going to have to apply for planning permission as I need to have the cabin less than 2 metres from the boundary due to the size of my garden.

without waffling too much, I am looking for some input on the sizes and whether they would be suitable for a sim. I can’t really go any bigger due to the garden size.

Also, does anyone have any experience of planning I.e the chances of getting it accepted?

I'm a few months ahead of you on the same journey. I got planning permission for a cabin exactly that size in my smallish garden. The main difference is I went for the "nearly flat" EPDM roof. Looks like its the same cabin company that you are using. Overall height for my cabin is just under 3.4m externally, internally clearance goes from 2.9m on one side to a little over 3m on the other, to the bottom of the roof beams. So that's a lower overall height than your pitched roof, and usable across the full width of the cabin. Also the flat(ish) roof should make it easier to do any ceiling mounting eg projector, Uneekor. The cabin materials are arriving tomorrow, and they are building it next week, so I can't say for sure that it's big enough yet! Obviously I did a lot of swinging and measuring to get a good idea of space requirements. I'm sure you have too. I'm confident I'll have space to comfortably swing. Caveats are 1) offset hitting position. 2) not really much room for guests.

Thanks for the response. I did mention the slope to the supplier (who have been very helpful) and he said that having a flatter roof would not look as nice, his words were that it would look 'a little boxy'. My thoughts are that the backswing would be into the higher side of the cabin i.e I would be facing the low side.
You're right, I have been swinging in various spaces but I'm thinking I might need to increase the height of the low side a little.

One of things the planners look at is "visual impact" (from the perspective of the neighbours) so you have to decide whether the lower overall height of the flat roof will be more or less acceptable than the pent roof.

Are you sure about the placement of the windows? I kept my "impact" end glass free.

The door and windows will not be where they are located on the pic. The image was just to get an idea of the sizes. Once I'm happy with the size I'll spec up the rest.
