  • Opinions please

Hi y’all. I’ll start off with telling a little about me. Live in CT so dec-mar/April golf is out. My ghin is 9-10 and play 3-4 times a week. So I’m going to build a simulator in my garage which is heated . My space is 17’ long, 12’ w and 14’ high . While I will definitely play courses / play online I really want something to work on dialing distances in and get better at working the ball both ways. I’m pretty sure I want something that has path in the numbers . I think my options are gc2 hmt, gc quad, tm4,20/20 and uneekor. I’m leaning toward the quad but it’s a big nut to drop. That being said I want to do this once and right. I may bring out to range occasionally but not a huge factor in my decision. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I bought a Quad earlier this year and find it to be amazing. I can't recommend it enough. It truly is a well made device. I don't think you have enough space for a TM4. Many people on this forum speak highly of some of your other options (GC2 HMT, Uneekor, etc.), so it really depends on whether you will have other golfers (lefties for instance...assuming you are a righty) or if you want a ceiling mounted versus floor unit. For software, I have both FSX2020 and TGC2019. Even though many people complain about the FSX2020 graphics, I really enjoy it. The ball physics are very solid. I love the monthly closest to the pin and long drive contests.

I have a garage build in Northern Virginia. Our winters won't get as brutal as yours, but I wanted a device I can bring in from the garage when it gets overly cold. (You can't do that with the ceiling mounted devices.) The use of the alignment stick makes it super easy to get the device aligned. Putting and chipping have been absolutely fantastic.

Good luck with your choice. You will get great feedback on all of your options.

Gawlfa is correct, you likely don’t have enough space for a TM4 and this if you are ok with the lefty righty limitation, I would agree that you cannot go wrong with a QUAD. It is still a good chunk of cash once you factor in software and club info add on. There was a good Black Friday sale last year though and I am not sure if there will be one again this year given demand for sims. GC2 with HMT could be another consideration at a lower cost. Also check out the refurb deals as sometimes they can be good.

I have to say your ceiling height is envious!

      good luck with the build!

Thanks for the feedback ! I found a quad on eBay that’s actually in ct for 14k but they don’t have the original activation code so that brings it to 17. I think it might be worth it to just go new for the extra 3k. Does the gc2 w hmt work outdoor and is the club data as accurate as quad ? Again, thanks fir your time, looking forward to joining the winter competitions !

I checked that listing as well. The seller wants a bank wire transfer. I chose to stay away and like others have stated on this site never wire transfer because people will scam you.

Unfortunately, wired funds are also the best way to avoid being scammed by the buyer.

GC2 would just not be as easy for outdoor and moving around, but it is possible. As always be very careful with online purchasing of used units as there have been a lot of fraudulent ads of Foresight product online. If you post it here some might be able to give you some insight. Also, I think if you look at some postings here from the last week there was a QUAD for sale that you could compare price wise as what you are looking at seems steep from my perspective (see if you can find the posting here that spoke to last years Black Friday pricing for a brand new unit (I think it may have been less than what you are looking at now).

Yeah he does want a bank wire only. The good thing is he is 30 min from me and a legitimate business and not a guy at a parking lot somewhere. That being said for 17k I’ll go new for 20.( or hopefully better with Black Friday coming up !) seems like quad is the way to go.
