  • Garage Build - Screen Location Advice

I am struggling to figure out the placement of an impact screen for an eventual Mevo Plus setup. Do any of you see problems in hanging the impact screen under the fixed cabinets, instead of in-front? It would save about 2' feet of room and would have a cleaner look.

However, with a 8'-10' feet of ball flight before the screen, I am concerned with hitting the cabinets with wedges, or the occasional pop-up driver. Would you consider removing the cabinets, hanging the screen in-front of them (current net position), or would I be okay to hang it underneath them? I would appreciate any feedback or ideas that you may have. Thank you!

Maybe keep it under the cabinets but have an enclosure roof that sticks out a bit to knock down any high shots. Ideally you want an overhang no matter what anyway. That would keep the cabinets somewhat accessible (from the side anyway) while also protecting them.

Outside the box thought here ...

get a net, curtain, canvas, etc and adhere one side to the bottom of the cabinets. On the other side run Velcro the entire length of the cloth. On the ceiling put the other half of the Velcro. Then Velcro the cloth to the ceiling so it drapes in front of the cabinets. Then when you need in the cabinets just putt the cloth down and access them. Once done just stick back to the ceiling.

Agree with Stetson's recommendation, however just be aware that you would still have one hard edge where a ball could bounce back... You may want to make it adhere to a few stand-offs to the cabinets, like 3-4inches out, adhere your net via carabiner to those, and you could still move it to access the cabinets. If a ball was to go up on a chip shot, the net would catch it and deflect it down. If it got between the 3-4 inches of room between the stand-offs, it would likely deflect up and into the net on the other side, and then roll down the netting.

Appreciate the suggestions! I was thinking of experimenting with a steel cable up by the ceiling and angling down to the screen, but never thought of a simpler velcro method. Like most build stories on here, I think I will just have to do some trial and error testing and adjust as I go. Thank you!
