  • How to secure a golf mat to a carpet

    Hello everybody,
I am in the process of building my first simulator. I don't have a very large budget. The room is tiled, and I don't want to install carpet or turf. I bought a large rug to put under the golf mat to stop it from sliding. I have a 5x5 country club elite mat, and it rotates several inches every few swings. Before I get a launch monitor, I need to make sure the mat doesn't move at all so the alignment doesn't get messed up. I plan on securing the carpet to the ground with adhesives How can I secure the mat to the carpet, and stop it from sliding around?

Would the adhesives work to secure the mat to the tile? In other words, just eliminate the carpet and put the mat directly on top of the tile?

Ditch the carpet under the mat and get some of this double-sided gel tape. You will want to put almost the entire roll under your hitting mat. Search Amazon for "ALIENTAPE Nano Double Sided Tape"

You could also try those mesh things that you put under an area rug to keep it from sliding around.

Ditch the carpet. Get a strip of 1/8 or so thick aluminum, cut two tabs abut 3 or 4 inches wide, glue them to the underside of the CCE mat with goop contact cement and attach the strips to the floor. If the floor is wood, screws will do. If cement then use anchor bolts and inserts.

I did this exact thing with a CCE mat on a smooth garage concrete floor. Neither swings or driving my car over the mat caused any lateral or rotational movement. You just need to put the tabs on diagonal corners of the mat which eliminates both rotation and lateral slide..
