  • Setting up a net

New hear and am finding loads of useful info. I'm looking at setting up a bare bones mevo+ sim in my garage. I have access to a whole bunch of spectator netting from a hockey rink and am planning to use it to hit into. I saw someone used a painters drop sheet to a net to help stop the ball quicker.

My question is how close to the wall/garage door can I hang my net and still stop the ball before it hits the wall? If I anchor it to the ceiling and floor I'm guessing I can stop it within a few feet without launching the ball back in my face. I want to give the mevo+ as much ball flight data as I can. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Here is my current garage setup. The net is mounted on a steel cable I strung across the ceiling using eye hooks, carabiners, and turn buckles. I have 3 bungee cords to hold the net to the sides when set up. When my wife wants to park her car in the garage I slide the net off to one side and bungee cord it. I would say 18" with a double layer of net is enough off the wall but I would set it up at 24" to be safe.

Looks good, I like the cable idea. I'll probably rig up the same. I'm thinking of setting up the net tighter with the painters sheet looser a few inches ahead of it to slow the ball down before it hits the tighter net.

      Thanks for the help!!!

The net does not slide as easily as I thought it would on the steel cable but it was the right price. I used the following:

        Turn buckles $9.25: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
        Cable $8.99: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
        Carabiners $9.99: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
        Net #1 10x15 #21 net $68: https://www.ebay.com/itm/10X15-Golf-...item523df2a1e2
Net #2 (impact net extender) $19.99 - no longer available on amazon
