I’ve nearly completed my garage build. Goals were (1) freestanding, (2) able to disassemble/reassemble, (3) fit in 1 stall of 3 stall garage.
Dimensions
-height: have 9’4” to drywall ceiling. Have ordered new garage doors (needed replaced, getting better insulated) with high lift tracks and header/side mount openers.
-width: decided on 10’ to keep in 1 stall and still have room for 2 vehicles inside
-depth: have 20’+ of room in chosen stall so no concern
Frame: custom 1” EMT frame. I ended up with 8’ 6” H to ensure under garage door, 9’ 8” wide and 7’ deep. This is more square then 4x3 image. Then I extended frame on sides another 7’ at 36” H. This is to provide a shank guard and block winter foot traffic across carpet, but allow room to swing R or L handed over this part of wall. Added 1” foam pipe wrap.
Wrapped the side, top and side with CN custom netting nylon #30 10’x30’ from Amazon and will use a smaller piece to cover lower sides. This is high quality netting and seems very strong.
Bungee balls for net and screen. 4” good for net. 12” adjustable were best for screen.
Blackout curtain: black denim fabric from JoAnn’s currently draped over frame (bolt will run across side, top, side in 1 piece), but will have sewn and attached. Was $9 per yard at 60” wide.
Screen: Carl’s Premium with grommets 9’5” X 9’5”, which will allow me to easily rotate it 4 times to spread out wear area. I did end up trimming cage width to match screen so no gaps on sides where ball could get through. Plug for Carl’s - shipped fast. Screen is amazing with 4K video! I’ve used their online chat 3 times for questions and get prompt reply, very informative and friendly. Also called once and got live person off ring who answered my question. Great service! For me it’s worth retail price. They recommend no screen backer (mattress, memory foam, etc). I’ll update in future about screen durability.

Other floor: 1” 2’x2’ BalanceFrom exercise mats to cover concrete and fill in floor from Amazon and green grass carpet from HD. Good bounce reduction, should hold mat in place, very little drop from mat to carpet.
I have GC2 and awaiting new computer to run software. Very excited to break this thing in.
Image below is with good lighting in garage and daylight. You can see excess net across top 1/3 through/behind screen. With lights out and projector on (BenQ TK850) the image is amazing!
