  • Building custom enclosure

My friend has a metal shop so I was thinking to try to build my own enclosure. How hard would this be. It seems like a metal frame and then you tie the screen on to it? How is the siding wrapped in black? Just seeing if this is feasible.

or just buy the DIY enclosure from Carl's place. It will ensure you will have the screen covered in black borders rather than seeing the bungee cords

        1. Buy EMT pipe from home depot. Decide how tall, how wide and how deep you want it. Then use your friend's metal shop to cut the pieces to the exact sizes you need.

        2. Buy the connectors online. I got mine from here = https://makerpipe.com/

        3. Piece it together.

        4. Use curtains to wrap it.

Building an enclosure is very easy to do.

Ya is sounds like it’s easy I guess I just order the screen and connect with bungees

My only fears is the ball goes through the screen somehow or through a hole or gap how do I unsure this doesn’t happen or the bounce back is too hard or it ricochets back in my face lol just trying to avoid injuries and damage as I have some cars parked beside me

how do curtains work as side protection I was thinking to build 5ft out as I imagine it’s hard to shank it further to side then that and if someone does somehow I guess a heavy weighted curtain would work?

You can hang a net behind the screen to block off any gaps between the screen and enclosure.

You'll figure out the bounce back. Just takes some trial and error. Tons of threads about bounce back.

Heavy duty blackout curtains work fine. You can also hang a net on the side walls for added protection.

Ok thanks and what is the best net to use for this?

so I put the screen then net behind it then How do I finish the wood frame or metal like how to pad it to avoid ricochets and just the net will be fine I don’t need to add like the black fabric?

I just want a functional set up aesthetics come second but would be nice to have a clean finish

For turf i assume you can go cheap for it all except the 18x12 hitting area? I guess I will look up how to install this so I can change out the inserts as required

Use pipe insulation to cover the metal poles. Sold at home depot right next to the EMT piping.

You can add blankets behind the screen if you want. If you want to cover up the bungees then yes you can hang fabric. Forget the wood thing. Use metal.

For netting, look up "nautical nets bouys and more" on ebay. Great seller with terrific products.

Thank you so much for the input I will definitely use metal I think this can be done! I guess will take some tweaking on the screen to get the bounce back right the rest seems manageable.

i checked out the netting he sells a ton of them I’m not sure which one to get or what size I plan to make my frame 150-155widex114high and 5feet deep
