    Projectors and screen question

I am building a new sim in my garage I ideally wanted 12 x 9 as I see that is a common size for screens. It is a little tight if I went say 11.5 x 8.5 would this work the same like would my projector fill the full space or leave some gaps? I know 12x9 at 4:3 is a full screen just wondering if 11.5 x 8.5 or even 12 x 8.5 would work as in full screen no blank areas, thanks!

if I went from 12x9 which I’m used to playing at my local sim place to 11.44x8.58 which I see Carl’s enclosures sells do you think I would notice a big difference? And is it safe to assume a projector would fill the full 11.44x8.58 space in ?

that's very negligible so no, you wont' notice a difference. For the projector, it will fill it but based on how close/far you set the projector.

The dimensions you list are 4:3, so the projector would fill the screen., you should visit www.projectorcentral.com, find your projector and put in the screen dimensions - it will show you the distance the projector needs to be from the screen. In projector central don't forget to put the throw calculator in 4:3 mode as it usually defaults to 16;9. As far as your 2nd question I doubt I would notice half an inch.

Oops. Sorry about that, but I agree with intrinsic above, wouldn’t think it would make a huge difference even if u do notice it. Now as I’m saying this I do remember upgrading my tv from 55” to 65” and I noticed. If it was me I’d alway get the biggest I could fit and afford, in my case that was a 10x7’-7” and I think it’s awesome.

Ya funny you mention the tv comparison I have 7 TVs in my basement and a 65 vs a 75 is noticeable and a 50inch looks tiny in comparison as I have one of those in same room too I’m aiming for 12x9 I just need to build a 2inch frame if that will work I should be ok
