  • Gym Tiles for garage flooring where a car will still be parking

Any recommendations for the typical 2x2 foam interlocking gym floor tiles that will soften the ball bounce but still allow for a car to come and go? From what I see on Amazon, the EVA tiles aren't meant for extremely heavy objects and might tear quickly. Maybe I didnt see the right one?

    Thanks!

You need horse stall mats. Tractor Supply has a bunch you can get.

thanks. you think it has enough give to stop balls from bouncing around?

I'm about 6 ft tall and I took two golf balls and raised my above my head to drop them straight down onto my stall mat. Maybe...just *maybe*, it bounced a 1/2 inch.

How thick are the stall mats?

You could always lay shaggy artificial turf down. It's made for permanent outdoor use and has worked in our garage golf sim for the last year. Cut to your liking, and lay it down like a rug. Drive and park on it. The ball doesn't really roll in 1.75" shag.

I do suggest a putting surface between the ball and the screen. Even a two foot wide putting surface could give you enough feedback on ball speed and direction of launch.

The horse stall mats would allow for a workout space though.

This is a great idea, thank you! And yes, a 2' wide putting surface is between me and the screen is exactly what I envisioned. Any particular product suggested for that? I saw this posted previously and seemed interesting. https://grass-tex.com/product/one-putt/

I've posted these before, but still haven't made a build thread.

The stance mat and putting surface are a custom combo mat from fiberbuilt. 3' wide x 10' long putting surface with 9x4 stance mat. If you use something like a uneekor QED, a wider putting surface allows you to just aim your putt without even touching the keyboard. Essentially putt the ball as if you are playing the break on your putting surface (aim left 6" , reduce speed etc.).

I'm sure the putting grass that you linked to is probably fine for getting feedback on speed and direction of putts.

What are you using to raise the putting surface to match the height of the Fiberbuilt? Any issues with putting over the small lip this on the front of the Fiberbuilt? Just wondering if the ball bounces over that lip that’s centered on the front of the mat before it makes it to the putting strip. Thanks!

It is a custom, T shaped, fiberbuilt mat.
Email them with your design and they will send an acceptable layout for your approval. Sign, scan, pay them and you'll get your combo mat in the mail.

Fiberbuilt has different underlayment squares. The ones that come with the combo mats do not have a rubber lip separating the putting area with the stance mat. There is a slight drop between surfaces, but that may only appear to effect taps or slow (2'-5') putts. Once you hit the ball fast enough to go 5', its over this shallow dip quickly. Plus, the measurement has ready been taken. I putt on the stance mat and it rolls through toward the cup. Uneekor QED has a relatively wide view of the hitting area. Drop a ball and swing.

A standard 9x4 stance mat will have the lip. Just contact them if you need something custom. The cost per square foot was about the same on custom vs their off-the-shelf layouts.
