  • Yoga mats to drywall ceiling...help please.

I have a 16-foot screen and I am trying to secure these 4x8 yoga mats to the ceiling and I am wondering what is the best way? I don't really want to screw into the pleather which was my initial thought with washers but I would rather the finished look without screws. I am going to come out 8 feet from the screen and use 4 of them all the way across. I then was thinking of using some kind of liguid nails or other glue and gluing right to the sheetrock ceiling or possibly gluing to 8x4 luan board (x4) then mounting to the ceiling but would still have to put screws through it to get luan to the ceiling. Now I am thinking maybe uses heavy-duty velcro 12" strips but wondering if it will stick to the pleather material??? Any suggestions?

Just a thought if your ceiling is painted and flat (ie not textured). Could you get Velcro and stick one side onto the ceiling and then either stitch or stick to your mats?

I have never done this, but wonder if it might be worth considering? Suspect you would need three 2 or 3 inch wide strips running the length of the mat per mat.

Yeah I am thinking the velcro may be the right move my only concern is if the adhesive will stick to the mat +gravity etc. Sewing it to the mats sounds like a nightmare as I don't know how to sew but maybe some added strong glue to the adhesive backing then sticking to the mat may work. I am so tired of measurements and planning, building. I am driving myself crazy for months now but hopefully by 1/1/20 or close to it I will be finally hitting some balls with my Uneekor QED. Thanks for the reply man I appreciate it!

How about one inch thick foam panels on the ceiling? Would be much easier to attach and lighter weight. I can recommend an online retailer that cuts custom sizes and shapes. https://foamforyou.com/

I recently attached 2 by 2 foot foam tiles to my ceiling using double sided sticky tape used for indoor/outdoor carpet. I found that as long as you press firmly to get a really good seal, it holds itself up. Home Depot sells it.

BillG thank you. These may be a bit heavier because it is 8x4 total (4) 2x4 pieces that fold but connected as 1 piece. I am really starting to think that a good amount of strong velcro in 12" strips should do the job but please keep coming with suggestions they are much appreciated. This forum is great and I have pieced together a ton of info from it from everyone. I will post my finished build soon probably 27k later :0

You can find them at most general merch stores. I got mine here but you will find many stores that stock them in the US( Home Despot, Lowe's, Amazon etc). I also used them for my hitting deck underlay.
