What’s the approximate room you need to swing a club from the ball to the wall (width)? I am trying to scheme (plan) something and I feel like 6’ seems to be enough, but want to make sure I’m measuring approximately right.

I have 10ft wide space and have to be offset, ball to wall is about 6-1/2 - 7', and I can not swing driver, if i flatten my follow thru at all my 3 wood will hit sometimes as well.

I think around 15 feet is about the space needed to hit from the center of the room. I have 13 feet of width and I have to cheat over to the right side a bit. So at 15 feet I guess you'd be looking at 7.5 feet behind you if you were centered.

Take your driver and just make super slow motion swings to see what's in reach. I think there's the "actual" distance you need to not hit anything plus some extra distance to get some peace of mind and not have it in your head and affect your swing.

You will not have to worry about any pain with fiberbuilt. Just search the forums here. It's widely regarded as the most popular mat largely for that very reason.

I have about 12 1/2 ft width and the hitting mat in center. I have adjusted my swing to compensate and rarely hit the wall. I agree that minimum 15' would be ideal.

3on3putt yeah I’ve seen the same thing, just wasn’t sure about the mat vs the strip. The mat is much more cost effective which I was surprised by!

lawrencejp42, that small amount extra is huge, I’m restricted because I have a single car garage that my wife has (graciously in her opinion) given up since we have another garage. Honestly all I want to do is stop planning and just get into the build but the house has 2 months until it’s done!!!

I have a single car garage used for my sim. Total width is 128". I have a SkyTrak so my laser dot is not center to screen. From the dot to the back-swing wall is 80". I think you need to figure some individual variables like player's physical dimensions and swing type. I am 6'1 and have an upright swing but I have had some players in my sim with flatter swings who were close to the wall but didn't hit it. I think the best suggestion is from 3on3 and do a dry run to see. I labored over this during my build along with the position of the projector in an front offset location.
