I am ready to pull the trigger and get a golf simulator. I have very minimal knowledge with electronics nor am I an handyman. I was curious if you guys recommend for me to purchase one of the "sim in a box" options or should I have par2pro design every component of the simulator? By budget is 20-25k. Thanks for your help.

Par2Pro or Sim in a box?

I am in the que as it seems they have quite the wait right now. I have sent them pictures of the space and answered the survey about wants\desires. I am leaning towards having them design it all with the stealth screen as I like the retractable option. I am a little intimidated by this option though because as I stated, I do not enjoy dealing with electronics or any type of "construction"

With your budget I suspect the sim in box that you are looking at is GC2. Is this right? Could you expand your budget a little and go do it yourself route with Par2Pro and get a Quad? Not sure if this will work price wise but something to consider as I am sure they could give you what you need to have something that is close to the sim in a box? Appreciate your construction comments, but would view this more as assembly.

You can get gcquad “sim in a box” for around $20k. Check out shop indoor golf sig12 or sig10 package. Comes with everything you need except club head data. That would add another $4k so still under your $25k max budget.

I could expand my budget for sure. I was honestly looking more at the uneekor if they did the design for me as I like the overhead option. That is why I am a bit perplexed. I have the space to do any type of launch monitor and screen. The only thing I am drawn towards is the retractable screen. I probably would not even consider the sim in a box option if I was not concerned about the assembly aspect.

With $25k you are in a situation where you will have a high end setup, space pending. I personally would not pay someone else to design a sim for me, and a sim-in-a-box is one way to reduce that design cost. You could call/email gunghogolf and pay for his consulting services then source the materials yourself while coming out ahead.
Regardless at $25k, and assuming you have the space you will be in great shape with any option you chose if you are willing to do some work yourself. Do not underestimate the importance of noise in the space, some green glue with double drywall + other noise reducing measures are important and cost money.

I recently installed a 16' stealth elite system from par2pro. Very fine system. High quality materials. I would say however it was not a simple installation. I am pretty handy and this install is not for a novice. Also there really are no complete directions as in, step 1, 2, 3 and so on. There is a fair amount of "figuring things out" work. They were very helpful when I needed advice or help with any part of the install. The front screen by itself is a piece of cake but if you are going to do all three screens and the ceiling protection, and you don't like to do this type of work, consider hiring a local installer to help you out.
