  • Baffle Question

I pulled this off the web sometime last year, obviously created by Foresight. Does anyone know what kind of baffles are depicted in this photo? It is a computer generated photo, but it is a look I like.

To me, it seems like the walls and ceiling are depicted being covered in 2x2 carpet/acoustical tiles, then on the ceiling the baffles look like they are pieces of a 2 foot cylinder cut in half, covered with a similar material (carpet?), then attached to the ceiling for extra protection. Any ideas? Has anyone seen something like this out in the wild? Thanks.

From research (not experience) I think the baffles are just loosely hung fabric and attached to ceiling, giving effect of being attached to half cylinders as you put it. There is no half cylinder behind them- the loose hung fabric has better opportunity to absorb any skyward shots then fabric attached to half cylinders which would be more solid and therefore potentially allowing ball to ricochet back at you. Just my impression, as I too am interested in a top baffle cloth/netting when I get to build stage. It’s similar to side curtains absorbing the wayward shots.

      14MPH,

Yes, I certainly agree that it can't be a solid half-cylinder in there for the reasons you stated. But I showed it to my wife who could give two flips about golf simulators, and she said it looked like it was something more solid underneath. She actually said, without prompting, "well if was just loose cloth hanging wouldn't balls hitting it over and over make it look like S*** after a while? That looks like something form fitted." Then she walked off muttering that I was "stupid" and shaking her head at my obsession. Such is life.

I was thinking something like this might be a solution. Soft enough to absorb flop shots, but solid enough to keep the shape:
