  • Screen from Trackman

I'm starting to build out my simulator. I have a full quote from Trackman, which includes turf, hitting mat, side and overhead protection, etc.

I see a lot of people go for third party screens. I'm trying to determine if the Trackman screen is worth the premium. I want to use the projector and screen for watching movies as well, so quality is important. I don't mind paying a 10-15% premium to have it all done by Trackman, but if it turns out to be a 50% premium that's a different decision.

    Thanks for any help.

Is it a 50% premium? I think their screens are customized (could be wrong), but they have a solution to ensure the screen has the correct tension. I also think there is some finishing and so would say it is not a raw screen material. If they are providing everything else, then I would go for their screen as well.

however, everything for the enclosure can be done by you for much less. Question will be if you can finish to what you are hoping to achieve.

Thanks. It's significantly more expense than the screens I see from Par2Pro. The Trackman sales rep is going to take me to a client so I can check out the setup next week.

Please update once you see and hear the screen. About 18 months ago, I went over to a Trackman client's home to see his room. This was before I really got into the golf simulator world, and didn't know what questions to ask about the screen. The client hit a couple balls, and the bounceback was perfect - rolled right back to him. I did not ask if anything behind the screen and I couldn't compare sound from one screen to another.

I'd be curious on 1) if there is anything behind the screen, 2) bounceback and 3) quality of sound reduction.

It would appear TM would not "cheap out" on this, but will await your trip report.

I went to see the screen. There were visible dimples in the screen from where the current owner hit thousands of balls into. I don't know if this happens to all screens, but for the price, I was expecting to not see any visible damage.

I don't have much to compare to, but hitting the ball into the screen, the ball fall straight to the floor. Not much bounce back. Sound was fairly quiet, although, again, not much to compare to. I didn't see anything behind the screen.

For the price, I've decided to order from Par2Pro unless someone has other recommendations. I can buy 5-6 screens for the price of 1 from Trackman.

If you are willing to pay a 10 to 20 percent premium, why not get two screens? a screen made for movies and not impact will look a lot better than watching movies on an impact screen.

I am currently visiting with Trackman about doing a full install using everything they recommend. Can you share more specifically what you carved out of the deal and did on your own?
