  • Dricore Flooring

I got the dricore flooring for my garage sim build, I was planning on doing a roughly 10x10 area a foot away from the wall and leave an opening for fiberbuilt mat. Main reason for doing this is the area between the hitting mat and impact screen want the same height for putting. My main question is since the dricore isn’t going around any edges of the wall do I need to box this and frame a two by four around all sides to keep from moving or for what I am doing is that not necessary. Also if I do box it around it would give a cleaner look with the putting green otherwise I’m not sure how to have clean edges with the cut turf, I’m just using foam mats on top of the dricore and then grizzly grass to get me the 2” needed.
    thanks,

I like the idea of framing the edges if not just for the cleaner look but to protect edges of putting green. Is your garage floor level?

No it has some slope to it so I am hoping I can use shims to make it work.

Recommend you level the hitting surface or you may have LM issues

Yea I’ve seen people talk about the importance of this. I have seen people talk about building a platform for hitting mat and where impact screen balls hit. My issue with that is being still at square one and having to raise everything around the mat two inches still to get to mat height. Was going to use the dricore and foam tiles to get me my two inches and hopefully be able to shim up all that to get floor level, as far as the mat with it sitting on concrete what will be easiest way to make sure that is level, I don’t want to have to use anything permanent on the floor if I don’t have to.
          thanks,
          joe

Planning on redoing my flooring as well, but in a similar situation where I would only do it for the sim area. Is framing absolutely necessary to have a clean look?

Joedirt - Did you box your Dricore or just leave it as is? I'm about to pick up Dricore and wondering the same thing. I just don't want the pieces separating.

As previously mentioned - being level is the key here. You do not 'need' to box or frame in the DriCore panels. When installed correctly they are not going anywhere. That said, if you are really concerned you can drill a couple of holes and use tapcon screws to hold in place (this is the recommended installation for tile over DriCore) but certainly not required IMO.

I boxed the dricore in and framed underneath it, looking back i could of just used osb flooring because i had to level up my floor by running 2x4 across it and adjusting the height of these as i got closer to the floor drain. So really none of my dricore panels sit on the concrete because of the slope of the garage. I built the frame because it was the easiest way for me to level my floor without doing something permanent IMO. Here are pics.
