  • Garage build with echo and rebound issues

Ok, so I thought buying a used Trugolf Vista8 off Ebay and putting it in my new garage would be a piece of cake, right? 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have worked through a lot of the set up, but now that I’ve got everything up and running, it seems there is too much echo in the garage and distances while playing are WAY off. Oh, and one basically has to dodge golf balls bouncing back at them after hitting.
Anyone have some suggestions to try for theses issues? Here’s a picture of what I have (I decided I didn’t want to putt over the projector, so mounted it on the ceiling and then made a platform to make a flat surface)

Your screen is most likely too tight. It is acting like a trampoline instead of absorbing the impact. My screen is retractable so it hangs loose at the bottom. Don't know if this is an option for you with your setup but others will chime in to let you know. Not sure about the distances. I have a Skytrak.

The screen is attached on all sides with a bungee weaved through grommets in the screen. I will start by loosening the bungees and if that doesn’t work, then possibly taking the bungee out of the bottom. Thank you,

As DavidU touched on, is the bottom of your screen attached or hanging free? If it's attached, unhook it and let it hang free.

with the echo you need either lots of things in there to absorb the sound - most go for soundproofing of some sort like acoustic tiles.

I wasn’t planning on insulating...would that take care of the issue? I’d hate to spend money on insulating if it won’t take care of the problem and I’d need acoustic panels anyway.

like a lot of things the more you do the more it will help. It wouldn't be wasted cost as it would help and its not overly expensive - acoustic panels will be more effective but having both is even more effective

Exposed insulation should help with sound deadening.

Insulation will help with both heat control and sound dampening. That or those acoustic panels.

as far as huge rebounds you need a heavier screen or a looser base for some give otherwise it’s a trampoline

safe and sound insulation between the wall studs is all you should need to dampen the sound echo.
