I'm in the process of putting together my first sim build. I've attached a 3D design of the room as it will be however there are a three areas I am seeking some thought on.
So far I have a Skytrak on order as well as the enclosure shown (195cm High x 325cm wide x 60 deep) which I am hopeful of both arriving in the next few days/weeks. Everything else you see is pretty much up for change albeit I very much plan to keep the sofa and the desk in the room as I need the space to work also.
The main unique feature you will notice is the apex roof and the supporting beam. The Beam divides the 4.1M wide room in half and is 200cm off the floor. - Despite this initially looking like a bit of a non starter I have absolutely no problem swinging a driver in here and have never hit the roof because provided you are stood in the middle of the room you won't get anywhere near the roof.
1. With the enclosure at 60cm deep with a window right in shank territory (especially as I am LH) I clearly need to do something to project that window... I initially looked at curtains but due to the vaulted ceiling mounting might be a bit of a challenge and if I wall mount I worry they will be too close to the wall.... my Second thought led me to some kind of netting, I particularly like the 45 degree Net Return style side barriers however I can't seem to find anyone making this kind of netting other than for the Net Return or Rukket . Should I just buy one of these and hack something together? I'm in favor of a more permanent solution if there is something smarter to be done.
2. I will be hitting from about 7ft away from the screen (5ft from the enclosure) Is the height going to present a problem at this distance? I have been hitting foam balls in the office for months and just can't see how I am going to get a ball up past the height of the enclosure at that distance but reading through these forums and others are suggesting they would be worried.... is this because typically they are much further back?
3. Finally - what to do with the projector.... ordinarily you would want it in the middle of the room but due to the beam down the middle that kind of puts an end to that plan. at 5ft from the enclosure I can't see how I could mount it to either the enclosure or the floor either as it would likely see too much action from the ball so the only sensible option I can think off involves mounting it to the side.... now to cater for me this isn't too much of a problem but If I want to cater for both LH and RH players I can't see any obvious way of not having a massive shadow. In theory I can get the projector 9ft in the air and offset 6ft to the LHS but in reality I can't think that I'm going to find an affordable projector that can do that kind of horizontal & vertical shift and not look awful...
In terms of the hitting mat and grass I have yet to decide what option to go down here but I can see plenty of posts discussing this so will check them out!

PS. don't worry about them wire lights they are actually now flush to the ceiling and not running horizontal to the beam so they are well out of the way.
