  • Ready for flooring and putting green, need help

I'm ready for flooring. I would like everything level with the 1.75 inch 1 X 3 fiberbuilt mat I just got. Going in my basement so will be putting down directly on concrete.

What size foam pads should I lay, that will match the putting green I will get from TFD? Would 1 inch foam pads with a .75 inch pile height putting green really be level? I have a feeling it won't be enough and I would need 1.25 inch foam....

You can refer to this post by jerry3, he did the exact thing you need.

jerry3 sim photo.jpgjerry3 sim photo2.jpg This is my newly revised sim room, not sure how many iterations I’ve had but probably around 10 since 2016. I think this is the one I’ll be sticking with for a long time, although I might upgrade my projector to 4k. I hope this easy build can help some people create a good

Just for reference here is another way to accomplish the same task.

      2’ x 11’ putting strip from ProPutt

Practice 10 footers and make more Par Putts! Roll-up and store this practice putting green in a flash. Made with the most realistic turf in the industry.

To bring the putting strip up to FiberBuilt height I used this anti-fatigue mat from harborfreight

I used three of these 6’x12’ turf mats that have a 5mm foam pad and total height 0.75” for landing and hitting areas

      I used 1” sub-floor under everything

It would have been nice to have one single piece of turf covering the entire area, but shipping for the sections off amazon for me was free for this size.

Thanks! It ended up being more work than I initially thought, but isn't that how it always is?

I've got a really low ceiling so I don't want to sacrifice any height.

What's the implication of not using subfloor under the turf mat? Is it just a question of feel, or will it also impact the life of the mat significantly?

I'm new on here, so thanks for any help you can provide.

Looks good. What kind of strip, how thick was it, and how did you do it? Literally just cut the dimensions out and put it in? Anything I should be aware of before doing that?

as was mentioned earlier in the thread this is my typical recommendation because it's very easy and affordable. I've had this as the base the foundation of my putting/ stance surface for several years now and I think it's great. It's also light weight and modular if you ever want to move it or make changes.

      1) Buy 1.5" thick MMA Mats from Amazon, this is thick enough to insert almost any hitting strip and just the right firmness under foot to feel like a fairway. I’ve been using it for several years and think it is the perfect solution.
      2) Buy your putting turf, for budget conscious buy menards marine carpet, for a more premium experience buy from Turf Factory Direct
3 )Buy your preferred hitting strip (I highly recommend fiberbuilt, your joints will thank you!)
      4) Measure your platform and cut your putting surface to size
      5) Place your putting turf onto your platform
      6) Place your hitting strip exactly where you would want it to go, mark it and cut out the spot in the turf and the platform (can be done with razor)
      7) Insert Hitting strip and you've got your self a great looking platform

Below you can see what it looks like and you can see more info on my build at...

I used 1”EVA tiles and a high Quality Putting turf with a 1/4” rubber backing with felt. The putting turf and hitting strip come from Tartun Turfs and so does the hitting strip.
I have tried fiberbuilt hitting strip Diviot action Trustrike. The one I’m using now is one of the best I have tried. It's not to forgiving or punishing. It comes in a 12 or 18” wide by 24 or 46 3/4 inches long. if your looking at buying a good quality putting turf or hitting strip. Just contact me.
